I learned to make Pierogies from my Ex-husband's Grandmother! She was Ukrainian and spoke very little English. She was patient with me. She taught me many ways to make the Pierogies, using things she had. Leftover mashed potatoes, cherries, blueberries and cheese! She always boiled them. They were served with Fried Onions done in leftover bacon grease. Fried just until Golden brown. Grease and onions went over the boiled Pierogies! It was delicious! The onions I still call "Baba" Fried Onions"! She taught me many Ukrainian dishes. Including the Blessed Bread for Easter. Their Priest came to the house, and Blessed this bread for them! I was fortunate to have known her and her husband! He used to sing me songs in Ukrainian! I loved these people very much. GOD bless

@@lifewiththevolfies My memories are most always of wonderful times in the kitchen! Your style of cooking is so much like my mentors! Whether that is my Mother, relatives or friends! A great home Cook, is worth millions! Cooking is a labor of love. You love it, or you don't do it. I can't remember now what you were making, but you reached down and swiped your hand on your side. My Mother and Grandmother did that too! So do I. I could have cried! Bless you! GOD bless you

Set your sour cream out for an hour before adding to a hot dish and it should help with separation. Sometimes I even set the container in a dish of warm water and stir a few times to raise the temp of the sour cream and it never curdles 😀

Hi Bev! Love your hair! Lol…I just made Pirogues yesterday…yum! I make them ver simple, onions, lots of butter and fry them up in m pan. Hum…bacon…I didn’t think of that one. But slather in sour cream always…
@deegilchrist98622 жыл бұрын
the best way to stop the sour cream from curdling is to add some of the hot liquid to the sour cream then mix it in with the rest of sauce. adding the hot liquid to the sour cream first will bring it up to temp

I have heard and I have not tried it but if you stir in just a little flour to the sour cream before you at it it will help with that separating. Hope you give it a try according to what I saw in the 8 oz it only takes a teaspoon of so. It acts a little bit as a thickening agent which basically I think covers up the curdling and thickens just slightly good luck this looked really good to me. I have never made pierogies fresh or frozen but they've always looked good to me it is on my list of to do things

I've been really disgusted by the package shenanigans that manufacturers have beein on for the last couple years now. Bags of veg that were 1kg are now 750g, bottles of cooking oil that were 1L are now 940ml (very annoying if using a fryer appliance that asks for 1L), chip bags that were 180-200g are down go 160d especially Lays (which I no longer buy due to that), packs of sliced meat that were 500d are 375g, total absolute bullshit and hidden major price increase on top of the actual inflation in sticker price. The stores lately, just nuts, now do they expect anyone on less than $20 an hour to live exactly. Might as well turn to a life of crime soon.

Hi Bev, My husband was a NHRA top fuel. They finally gave it up in 1987 because the cost of fuel and technology was getting so advanced they couldn’t compete. I feel they should have to tune a car by ear. This using computers to do it doesn’t make a competition out of it. It’s not fair. 🥰
