Raised in Eastbourne but left fifty years ago to explore the world. Now I am moving back. Eastbourne is a special place.

Seems you had a nice day in Eastbourne, bro. Mind you, this is only from Eastbourne railway station along Terminus Road to the seafront, just one road, out of about 15-20 square miles more-or-less. There is Sovereign Harbour on one end with its shopping complex and cinema, the Downs on the other, numerous parks, nice little woods only a local would know, Gildredge Park in the Goffs, Hampden Park Wood (or Decoy Wood), Eastbourne Park, Princes Park, Sovereign Swimming Centre, Holywell, the Pound, Cow Gap Trail, Beachy Head Road ... I have lived in Eastbourne for 46 years from babyhood till now. Nice town ( just don't go in the Town Centre at night, particularly Langney Road, Pevensey Road areas). Thank you for your nice video. Have a good day.

Yes, there are loads of people sleeping rough and the centre seems to be a permanent building site.

You chose an excellent date to upload this: 28 August was my Grandad's birthday, and he lived in Eastbourne!
@Abdulhakeembennette6 жыл бұрын
I've been wondering about my ancestral homeland for a long time, our great etc. grandad left Eastbourne back in 1634. The town he founded in the US isn't too bad either, you get a bit of sea breeze there as well. That would be Malden, Massachusetts. He also founded a church here which sadly was demolished for apartments in 2016.

Eastbourne is one of the best South Coast resorts.....smart, well maintained and little in the way of tat and eyesores that blights other resorts.

So nice to see that it is very pedestrian and cycling friendly a lot of other towns in this country need to wake up and do the same if they are to save the small shops

So glad we moved here nine years ago. I always say it's got everything but a sandy beach! There is so much to appreciate - great sea front, theatres, host of dining choices, beautiful harbour, etc, etc - all within easy reach of the most beautiful countryside. Dear old Sussex by the Sea, "We Wunt Be Druv!"

I visited there June 6-July 17, 2016 and it didn't rain so as I remember. It was mostly sunny or a bit cloudy. Only one day do I recall as rainy. Coming from Vancouver Island, I found it chilly in bed at night. Some people say it' s the old houses that are cold.

If you came back and filmed now you would notice so many changes. Debenhams , TJ Hughes and the cinema you mentioned have now closed down. An excellent film to watch especially as we are in Covid-19 lockdown.

Awesome video. I'm looking at moving up from the North to Eastbourne later on in the year, it looks like the perfect middle ground between not too big and not too small so it becomes boring and repetitive. I don't suppose you know of the best areas to live that will be fairly quiet and not too much crime?
@ourplanetdiaries8 жыл бұрын
Hi there...Thanks for watching...I was only down for the day,so don't know too much about the town..I'm sure if you search the local paper website,you'll get a better idea of the different areas in the town :) R

Hey, I'm 22, from Argentina and I have a work opportunity in England, I have to choose between Brighton and Eastburn to live for a month. I like living in the city, coffee shops, bars and beach. What city do you recommend me to go? . I hope you answer my question. Thank you!

So, as alternative to the views below, let me give my tuppence worth on Eastbourne, 6 years after this video. The Borough is run by Brighton who just love to dump their homeless and the migrants on Eastbourne as they feel that Brighton shouldn't have their economy blighted. Sovereign Harbour was supposed to bring much needed money into the coffers of the Council, but that failed. Now the shopping centre has a new facelift and it's struggling to bring shops due to Covid. The Resturants on Terminus Road have shut, a hotel has burnt down and the 'Dinghy boys' play football on the seafront as well as updating their TikTok accounts !!! Arndale Shopping centre replaced, New-Look gone, Acessorize gone, Jones shoe shop gone, Phase Eight gone, Blacks Outdoor shop gone, Cinema gone, Odyssy Fish bar gone, Debenhams gone, TJ Hughes gone. It's barely holding on.... They are building plain boring estates right, left and centre at the direction of the Council. No choice but to move out. Souless....
