I was born in Britain and then spent all but the first five years of my life in Canada. The first time I visited Charleston, at about age 50, I got this overwhelming feeling that I was home. Can't say that I actually believe in past lives, but this was the closest I've ever come to thinking I'd been here before and belonged here.

I especially love the ballroom, I just stand and try to imagine all the wonderful social events held there. My youngest daughter and I actually attended the military funeral held for the men that were in the Hunley. It was amazing of course everyone and everything was historically correct down to the wool uniforms. Imagine that in Charleston heat! Middleton plantation is very beautiful, I was a docent there for about give years in the stable yard. I really miss those animals. Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas.

As a native of the South Carolina Lowcountry our beautiful State is home to some of the most haunted places in the country. Charleston was the richest city in the colonies because up north everything came in to ports, But Charleston and the south were exporters. Economics 101. Times may change but economics doesn’t. Women from rich families in Charleston wore the most up-to-date fashions from Paris and London. Many rich families sent their children back to Europe to be educated.

@@emilee3151 are there any nearby towns that are cheap?
@emilee31512 жыл бұрын
@@StallionFernando Not really nearby. The massive amounts of development here have ruined all the surrounding small towns and they’re bad now too. People are coming here in droves, mostly from up north (can’t say I blame them), but it’s definitely making it hard on the locals. You’ve really got to go at least and hour away to get any cheaper.
