So sad we don't have actual craftsmen who can build the wonderful homes like they did in the past. All the beautiful detail that was put into the older houses was so gorgeous. All we have now are the disgusting, poorly constructed, sterile, manufactured and cookie-cutter homes.

So called Modern minimalist architecture is nothing more than an excuse for architects to not get in the trouble for building it

BS! You and BigBoss just can't afford quality.

@@hizacaine you wake up in a different country than yours how can you tell what country you're in ? How do you recognize chinese from european ? Laine, first and foremost. I'm convinced that you and Kevin must have a transporter chamber somewhere inside your house. One day, you're in Arkansas, the next day you're in Memphis. Then, you're back in Natchez. Wow! This is a beautiful, tastefully decorated, light, and airy craftsman house with very large rooms that compliment the next. You can clearly see how the craftsmen who built it emphasized their handwork and did so with a keen eye for detail exquisitely. They used costly materials and skilled labor, resulting in true, pristine architectural perfection throughout the house. I notice that as you went up the steps onto the first landing (where the leaded windows reside) that there was a separate set of steps that went down towards the kitchen. How very convenient.

My old bedroom at My last house I owned was that Purple color w/white trim & ceiling. I painted all rooms in My house Red, Blue, Green, Gold and even Pink with white trim & ceilings. My kitchen had a Cast Iron Sink with Pink Porcelain, it was there when I got the house. Each room was themed based on color of walls. No BORING/DEPRESSING industrial Prison Grays/Greys color-blind Decorators these days promote as great. Sadly My home & My other house got badly fire damaged due to a fire that spread from an longtime vacant house that was in between My 2 houses. No thanks to FiremaIes, they don't really fight fires like they used to.

The level of detail and design perfection in those period light fixtures is thrilling! I don't think I've ever seen MacIntosh roses in a leaded glass window before. Really a lot of nice features, and I love how the kitchen and bath remodels were done with the period of the house in mind. I nice extra treat from you two. I hope you've spent some time soaking in your own claw-foot tub after all of your hard work on Pearl. See you soon!

Gorgeous home! Amazing wood! I don’t mind a modernized kitchen in a historic home as long as it’s stylistically cohesive as I feel this one is. I think the really functional areas like kitchen and bath should have all the modern tools and conveniences to make life easier. I wonder what the fireplace in the living room looked like originally? Brick, or tile maybe? The green marble seems like a modern update. Love the outdoor space too! This property is a total gem!

I grew up very close to where this house is. He’s very house reminds me of a house my best friend lived in. Those wide roomie concrete porch’s I remember Summer days laying on the porch with my friend. This house is fantastic and yes, hopefully nobody will be dumb enough to paint the molding and would work . This house is on Peabody Avenue, which is a very desirable Street in Memphis .

i most certainly would never paint any of the woodwork. detailed woodwork is the kind of house i must have. i love the first two floors of this house. i wish it had a third floor and stair access to the 4th level attic (no ceiling access panels). i would have only wood floors and wood stairs (no carpet). when touring a home, i always want to step up into the attic, especially if there is tower access there.

I really love this house- the downstairs bathroom sink was gorgeous! The light fixtures and stained glass windows! I am dying to know about the door on the way up the stairs. It was halfway open, and it looked like an enclosed winding stairway. I would have loved to see that staircase and where it led to. I have a strange fascination with enclosed, winding stairs!! I sometimes wonder why that is? Thank you so much!

I agree. They could have used cabinetry and backsplashes that better suit the style of the house. Same with the downstairs bathroom, it really doesn't seem to belong to the house at all. It's lovely, just not for this house. Obviously just my opinion.

Many, many years ago my husband (now he's the ex) and I bought an old house with nice woodwork downstairs but painted trim upstairs. He spent many hours stripping that trim down to reveal some of the ugliest wood I've ever seen! In most older houses, lower quality wood was used for the private spaces in order to save money. It was always meant to be painted. And my ex refused to repaint the upstairs trim so it was ugly the whole time we lived there.
