Your onions look delectable. I passed out on the 2nd & had no idea I was in hospital. Pak choi & Parisian carrots it is next week. 😢 I hate I missed your show, but I saw my seat still waiting 😊TY.

Hello Rick. Hope you are doing well. I find this information so helpful. Every year I try different things to expand my knowledge and celebrate a fine harvest in the process. I need to expand to fall and winter growing eventually. Keep up the good work and thanks

Thanks Rick! I am in Sandy and the heat this year is being very hard on my small garden. I am glad to find you as all other gardeners I follow are not in my zone.

Rick, your onions looked great! When is the last time you top your plants?
@StoneyAcresGardening5 ай бұрын
@@roxanneheusdens8051 I don't top my plants at all. There's really not much proof that topping helps.

At least not that I've read or seen.

Where do you get your burlap from. I don't have much for outdoor stores where I live. Could I use shade cloth over my carrots till they germinate?
@accidentalcountrygirl5 ай бұрын
I have found it at material stores, and I just looked it up, and Amazon has a variety of options. Hope this helps. 🙂

I’m surprised you recommended direct seeding spinach at this time of year because it is difficult to get it to germinate in anything over 80 degrees. One trick I used this spring was to pre-sprout the seeds using the plate germination method and I had good success. I’ve also had pretty good luck transplanting seedlings. I’m wondering what issues you had. What I find with spinach overall is because it finicky to germinate, I make sure to always plant way more than I will ultimately need.

Thoughts on broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts? I got a bit too excited and started seeds about a month ago. I am going to put them into bigger cups this weekend. When do you think they can go outside? I am west of Salt Lake.
@StoneyAcresGardening5 ай бұрын
I love those as fall crops. Depending on where you live they might not make it into the winter. If you would like to get those planted for fall then you need to get the seedlings going right away! You will need to start seeds indoors about 12 weeks before your first frost date.
