K R Vijayan and his wife owned a modest tea stall 'Sri Balaji Coffee House' in Kochi and became famous after they funded their world tours from their earnings. In the last 14 years, the couple had visited 26 countries. The couple whom was seen in this video was them.. K R Vijayan, Kochi-based tea stall owner, whose trips across the world with his wife earned them near-global fame, died of a heart attack recently.

The tea you get in Kerala (Even the general South) is more similar to the western style of tea. The tea leaves are not cooked, but hot water is just poured through tea leaves in a strainer. The milk is usually only 1/4th glass. And spices are usually added to black tea only.

South Indians like tasting the actual flavour of tea leaves. They don't add ginger, cardamom etc. That's Masala Chai. Also, Chai has different names all over India and it's made in different ways. The ratio of the milk and water varies a lot and some regions don't use milk at all. Masala Chai has become the most popular version abroad but it's not the most consumed version in India. 🙂
@Jasmine_Sangma2 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Masala chai has a variety of spices. But ginger tea, cardamom tea, etc are made with that one ingredient. Taste differences are huge. It might not be the most common way of drinking tea but pretty common nowadays. You get it almost anywhere they serve tea. Even at home when we make special tea, for guests for example, we add either one or two of the spices.
@nandinihegde87292 жыл бұрын
@@Jasmine_Sangma I was talking about the Masala Chai that has the works which is sold in shops. That's the most commonly used one abroad. I agree that individually Ginger etc is used in homes but using all the the 6-7 spices is so rare at homes. That's the kind of tea people drink when they go out but it's not popular in the south the way it is in the north.

papaya, duh, it’s guava. Traditionally tea in kerala is made with (purist) just milk and water in a samavar (origin from Persia) wherin the real taste of just the tea leaves(smell of earth-like petrichor) where it is grown complimented with taste of good well water and a dash of fresh boiling milk). using cardamom, ginger, cloves etc is not a south Indian culture which is another taste altogether and caters to an entirely different palate.
