People really applauded Deepika’s performance in this film and she was taken much more seriously as an actress after this. Saif was amazing in Omkara. His career got a reboot after Kal Ho Na Ho in which he plays a similar character to Cocktail - fun and wild but he really impresses in the serious roles as well.

As many already commented, this movie changed Deepika's career. She went from "girl next door" roles to more varied, complex roles. It was really suprising to see her in the role of that party girl and she killed it! The movie is quite good, Saif (it's said "Sef") is great too in this kind of roles. He plays the villain in Omkara, what a performance he gave in that movie! He's an amazing actor. He did another, older popular romcom with Deepika called *Love Aaj Kal* by the director of Jab We Met/Rockstar/Highway if you want to react to it :-) Yes you should watch it with Ashley and Alexis!

This movie marked the watershed after which Deepika was taken as serious actor - more than just as pretty girl. Saif in Omkara was excellent. That movie catapulted him to recognition as a serious actor. Maqbool should be watched to appreciate the superb acting of Pankaj Kapoor (Shahid’s father irl) and Tabu. Irrfan was still in his early days then.
