She truly is a little doll. Precious as can be! And yes, she seems very in the know on everything! So so cute watching her be so in tune with everything. I love when I see babies like that cuz I swear you can look them in the eyes and at their facial expressions..you can just see their little brains working trying to figure out what's going on. It's so amazing! And it has to be true cuz there's some things they end up doing that you don't even teach them to do. They learn by seeing what we do just as much..if not more than what we try to teach them. Babies and animals fascinate me lol. I follow this page on facebook that's of a monkey who has the best life a monkey could ever dream. And she is so smart. Watching her do the things she does is so interesting to me too. I work in an industry where we get random federal inspections, including our fridges and freezers. I know it's so different in a home situation, but we are required to store produce on shelves above meat. Also everything has to be dated. I actually do this at home for storage items. It definitely helps me rotate things.
@namehere4954
@namehere4954 2 жыл бұрын
You store according to kill step. Things that are ready to eat are at the top and as you go down, temperature you would cook to food to increases. It doesn't matter in freezers as nothing can drip down but people typically group foods.

As always, I just love your videos. As a bee keeper I'm always so happy when people provide honey to their family. Honey doesn't expire or go bad. If you get crystallization (tiny bit or full jar) just put the jar in a pan of warm water on your stove. It will slowly return to normal. You can make your own cough drops, add it to your Elderberry syrup and many other home remedies for colds.

Sarah, for the mushrooms you should do the same as you do for garlic and lemon juice etc, I often buy mushrooms in bulk when they are on sale and sauté them all and freeze in useable differing portion sizes for eggs or stir fries or sauces and then put them into the pan frozen just like you do with garlic and ginger. Works fantastic!

Dairy, all diary causes allergies. When we switched to a whole food plant based diet, we were amazed. I think it also causes hair loss in men too, and that is why my son's and my husband's hair ( much slower for him) grew back after we were on this for about 3 months. Acre Homestead has a video on making a years worth of pasta. I have no experience with this, but just thought I would pass that on.

It was not a bad thing to say however, I see that some people have negative thoughts and comments about you saying that. I know I make the decisions about foods, drinks, and other things for my family, because they’re my responsibility and my loved ones. Other people can make those types of decisions for their own family but not for my family. There’s no debate about that. Thank you for sharing how you do things in your household. If you guys eat a lot of pasta, I would glady recommend a pasta machine to anyone...I adore ours! Flour, water and add an egg if you desire (we do, but it tastes good either way). We also like to make coloured pasta with pureed spinach and beetroot juices. Best part is you can flavour your pasta any way you want to by adding any seasonings like dried herbs, paprika or taco seasoning, similar to the way you can flavour your dough when you're making your own pizza bases. I have a Philips pasta/noodle maker, the best part is all the different extruding moulds making it very versatile. Even use the lasagne mould to make ravioli type pastas and dumpling/wonton casings (although now you can buy one for this apparently). Its very hardy, very balanced when in use & doesn't move around on the bench, easy to pull apart to change the extrusion moulds as well as clean and then put back together - or at least, I've found it to be so. The initial cost can be a bit offputting, especially when store bought pasta isn't really very pricey, but for me it's balanced out because I like knowing exactly what is going into the foods my family is consuming and also removing a little bit of the environmental impact of shipping/plastic packaging.

A pasta Machine is good. You don’t need to buy special flour. Bread flour works great too. My go to recipe for pasta is 2 cups of bread flour, 3 eggs and a pinch of salt. For your family maybe 6 cups of bread flour, 9 eggs and 3 pinch’s of salt . It’s tastes great in chicken noodle soup. It has a great texture and flavor in simple tomato sauce. You can make lasagna with it with out pre boiling it. You can make a really good ravioli and other great pastas. The kids may have making it too

Also, we started buying local honey, which I was always able to "bargain" w/our roadside & private sellers, as well as do some bartering. I think we ended up averaging about$7- $10 a quart for it, & that honey made an even bigger difference w/the allergy situation~ skin/sinus/belly~ all of it just disappeared! Maybe someone in your area raises honey, if you haven't already thought of...which you likely have🌼 Just wanted to mention~ have a wonderful weekend =) The Whitson's in AZ

I’m getting really scared about the food inflation. Considering Kenlee is allergic to dairy,eggs and soy and we get very limited food stamps($200). I bought some vegetables and fruit and it was $200. We are having to use church food pantry to help with her food. I bought mandarins from Walmart and they dried up so quickly!

See if you can start a vegetable garden. :) If space is an issue you can grow things in containers. The easiest and fastest to grow things are salad microgreens and sprouts. It can take months to grow a vegetable garden. Start now. Also, research how to grow a garden from kitchen scraps. Some vegetables re-grow. I hope that helps. Keep your head up.

We had to up our budget from $700 a month to $900 for 6 people 😳 we live in a very expensive area though (BC). We’ve also switched to a local dairy, not raw because that’s not the right choice for us, and we love it. Tortillas are a bread item I can’t seem to master either, lol!

Ambrosia apples are very good and can be eaten raw or cooked, but be sure to keep them in the fridge, they go bad quickly on the counter. That’s the advice from the ambrosia apple producer association in Canada where this apple is from.
