I had lunch with a big family on Dec 17. Dec 18 I woke at 4am. Thought I'd die! Stayed in bed. Missed CHURCH Christmas programs. Monday tested for COVID! I was positive!!! I've had the shots and boosters. But, IT got me someplace. So from Dec18 until Dec 28 no Christmas! I was alone sick! Neighbors offered to do anything I might need to get. That was helpful. So ZERO CHRISTMAS EVE ,NOR CHRISTMAS. THank God for KZbin. I was able to watch all of my favorite churches on KZbin live and/ or videoed. New Years....Year's..... I just stayed in. We had the HORRIBLE COLD weather at Christmas. No snow, but cold enough to freeze everything. Farmers .... it was hard on our winter crops. I'm glad yall are on the mend!!

Glad y’all are feeling better! For some relatively cheap and easy firestarters I would recommend saving the cardboard egg holders you get from the grocery store. Fill those with dryer lint and/or wood shavings from your property. Then pour a bit of melted paraffin wax over top and let the cool. You only need one or two sections) where the eggs would normally sit) to start a fire. We grew up making these for camping and our wood stove in our home.

It is going around for sure as it hit my husband and I on Christmas and the Day after Christmas and our Christmas with our 17 extended family got together but grandma and grandpa were down for the count. We are still very tired and lethargic but getting up and able to cook, tidy up and do dishes and a bit of laundry. It's real for sure so I can only imagine what you all went through. I ran a fever of 103.4 for two days and I was absolutely flat in the bed and slept non stop. It was crazy and I hope we never experience it again. So glad you are all on the mend and I hope Solo is doing better as well.......he still sounded a bit congested. God bless and keep you all safe. I like your No Spend January. Maybe we can do that as well..........cleaning out the pantry and freezers and getting freshened up with new stock in the pantry and freezer. We had the exact same experience over Christmas minus the snow storm. My husband and I both got very sick as did all six of our children. Yes, it is extremely hard to care for very sick children when you are miserable. I did a lot of praying during those days and the Lord certainly answered and helped tremendously.

Omgosh, we had this in November of last year…it was the worst illness I’ve ever had as a mom of six. We were solid sick for 10 days. It was influenza A. We still talk about it. It’ll go down in the family stories for sure.

Sarah, my son had it a month ago. It started with a scratchy throat and he said the fever hit at 10am at work. He can hone from work at 3pm with 104 temp. Drugs and to bed. Tylenol, ibuprofen and dayquil. It helps. He had to do 10 days of antibiotic too.

Heat pumps are great on hills but not great in cold weather, thank goodness for emergency mode. We added on to our home and did a concrete floor with radiant heat flooring. LOVE IT!

If the kids know what kind of cake they want take a day to bake and freeze the layers in advance. You can even make most frosting and freeze so all that's left is thaw, frost and decorate. Glad to see all the smiles at the end👍

Sarah, we've had a similar holiday! We had, what seems to be , the same never ending bug that felt like the plague for sure. Lol My husband was also the most ill out of us all, and we had to take him to the clinic as well. Two days before we all got sick, the transmission went out in my husband's truck! So thankful we have each other, and lots and lots of prayer. We're all still congested and not the best appetites. My husband just finished his antibiotic, but we may need another round. This bug is vicious! so thankful you're all recovering!

I would love to see more of your little house in the country. I was raised in the country and I think being raised out where you can play and be as loud as you want and not have close neighbors complaining about the noise is ideal for children. (Recipe for iced tea scroll down)Sara, you are amazing. It’s one thing to have 2 or 3 sick kids when you are sick yourself, I can’t imagine 11 kids too. Wow! I love big families my mom was the oldest of 11. But that part I don’t envy. You mentioned Ice tea to supplement your Diet Coke. I found a simple (I know you like simple) recipe for iced tea. Taste good and stays fresh forever without that cloudy old taste, or sour when it has sat too long Each gallon has 16 cups so I don’t skimp on that I use 16 tea bags my friend uses 8 and says hers tastes fine. Gallon of cold water and tea bags. I use glass so I can see by the color when it’s ready. That’s it. No boiling, no steeping, no hot water. Just cold water and tea bags and time in your fridge. I keep 2 gallons one is always in the fridge. The FDA just said something about how tea is equal to water drop per drop as far as hydration. Music to my ears.

You will learn that to get things done early. One year I got all my Christmas shopping by Oct. It was the best, most relaxed Christmas ever. Glad you all are starting to fell better. I got my flu shot. I have been getting it for over 35 years. No problem.

I make it a couple times a year and my family loves it. You can find the recipe on Pinterest. The frosting has pecans and coconut. I think your family would enjoy it if you like coconut and pecans.. Wow that sounds like everything I went through with the exception of fever. From 13 December to the 30th. I can’t imagine multiplied by 15 or 14 since Micah didn’t catch it. I agree with you it is so exciting to have service on Christmas morning. God has been faithful and we are in a new year now continued blessings. Heat pumps are good until 35°. Any lower than that it can't keep up. We finally put in a backup furnace to help with the heating. So now the heat pump works until it gets under 35° then the system switches to the furnace. Believe me it was worth the cost to have a furnace back up.

Happy New Year. Our house was also full of sick people the two weeks before Christmas. And two of my children had exams (finals?) at school and one had on top of that a very important try out/test at a potential big soccer club. So it was tricky. You could hear at Solo's voice that he has been very sick. I hope everyone is feeling good now an ready to start the new year. Aan easy recepy for cake: for every egg you take 50grams of butter, 50grams of sugar and 50grams of flour. A bit of vanilla extract. And depending on the flower you wil also need backing powder. Our everything in the Kitchen Aid and mix it up. Then you can add what you want to make it more festive: apples or pears with or without chocolat chips, cranberry's, nuts, ... I Bake it in the oven on 180 degrees celcius. Most of the time it wil be for about 30 to 40 minutes, sometimes longer. I 'eyeball' it😊. So i have a long knife or knitting needle and put it in the middle after e certain time. When it comes out dry, your cake is ready.

My family got sick for about 10 days with the gunk. It started off as a cold then turned into the flu and now at the end of it bronchitis. Which they just gave us some cough medicine well it had antihistamine, Sudafed and a cough suppressant. And the bronchitis is estimated to last a month or more. I had to go back to work because I missed so much that I had no more sick days. Thankfully it’s not Covid but it’s taking it’s sweet time to go away. I’m glad y’all are getting better tho.
