*Try reading section 1 along side 1 Nephi 1. Pay attention to similar wording such as...language, Babylon, book, mercy, faith, destruction etc. I did this today and was amazed at the parallels. Loved this! Great introduction to the Doctrine and Covenants!!

I too love Tony Sweat and appreciate every discussion I’ve ever heard him a part of. He is truly outstanding. But I’m listening to this as suggested just before listening to Episode 47. I like that you brought up the concept of God's timing. I have also come to realize, that neigh, is also an individual thing, What it meant to me as a young woman, has a complexly differently meaning to me in my old age. Since the scripture says that the same disposition we leave this mortal life with, is the same disposition we rise with, then the period of my life to become all that I can through the grace of Christ, when I reflect on my life, I dread how neigh the time is for me personally.

To be the first time you did very good. I am sure that you followed the promptings of the Spirit to teach us. I have no doubt the Lord is pleased with you. Thanks Tony for your insights. We all are learning and what a better way to do it together. I'll be ready next week.

I am a 70 year old kid and loved your podcast. Thank you so much. I like to part of the explanation of TRUE. use it as an adjective, (in accordance with fact or reality) or a ver (bring into the exact shape, alignment or position required) I also loved the part of our LIVING church. Living and evolving and changing with the signs of our time.

“Search the Scriptures-search the revelations which we publish, and ask your Heavenly Father, in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, to manifest the truth unto you, and if you do it with an eye single to His glory, nothing doubting, He will answer you by the power of His Holy Spirit. You will then know for yourself and not for another. You will not then be dependent on man for the knowledge of God; nor will there be any room for speculation.” (History of the Church, 1:282.)

It's so amazing to see all three of these brethren discussing the D&C together. I've admired John and Hank for many years and love the way they can explain the doctrines in such plain and simple language. I grew up with Tony from first grade to high school (love the painting of the WV house in the background!) and I am thrilled to see the growth he's had as a faithful man of God and a talented teacher of this precious scripture. He was always highly intelligent, and it's so awesome to see he's used his intellect and talents to preach the word of God and help students and members fall in love with our Savior, His revelations, and teachings. Thank you for your example, steadfastness, fortitude, and persevering testimony in these last days before our Savior returns.

I like D&C section 1 is very good about tying in JSH into prayer 🙏 asking heavenly father and talking with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the love of our living Prophet and remembering the origins of the true Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Joseph's visions, his sacrifices, with his true work, as a loving husband, grieving father, seer, publisher, neighbor and kindly, son-in-law seeker of the stones, confirmation, others for christian fellowship and discipleship through further understanding, protection of the 2 plates mentioned throughout, Nephi, and his book, with 2 women disciples risking their lives, hiding in a corn field, while others were looking for them and Joseph's book. So very coveted were these works and keeping God's words, the gospel, close to our hearts, always and forever without doubt through studying the scriptures and especially Doctines and Covenants, understandable languages to learn and teach from while checking out other passages, Topical Guide, Dictionary, Book of Morman, Index, Appendix, Glossary and Ensigne or other periodicals, speeches, discussions and with continued Relief Society, Sunday School Class participation, Chapel, Sacrament, testimony and hymns continued familia fellowship, very fun and joyful and something to look forward to every day week and new year, so exciting!!!!🌻🌴🏵️🌵♥️🌲

Excellent discussion. Liked your point on Faith and competence. I noted that Christ put things in place “so that” certain things would happen. He has a “so that” list in verses 17-24 and all these things happened so that ultimately we will have understanding. Why is understanding important? Verses 25-28. I like listening to a variety of speakers because each has a different emphasis and gives a broader understanding of the reading-I shall be adding you to my listening ☺️

What you said about the Lord wants us to try first and then He will add to it, made me think of the parable of the talents. Do the best you can with what you have and then meekly seek the Lord to make up the difference that is beyond you. Doesn’t section 1 alone make your heart burn with love for the Lord. I was thinking that is ever a time came that scripture was illegal and you could only take a few pages into jail with you, I think section 1 would be good. Just my thoughts as I read. ( I am a little late coming to this party because of illness but I am getting a lot from them and am taking notes)
