You can treat all the calves, cows and bulls the same and yet you'll still have some that does what #31 did. We had one that we named Frayed, which was like your heifer, jumping and wild eyed. Those things happen and even though a person has done it for a majority of their life it still happens. That all said, you did a great job, in my opinion. I like to know the “number” at the end of preg checking…. Because that leads to the most exciting time to me which is calving and the 30/30!!!! Each and every day we get to see what’s going on…. Each baby, at every possible hour you have to go out and check on them…..I’m up LATE Mr. MiKE, I will be watching so wave at the camera if you or Ranch-hand Jeff has to do a 2:00am check…yeah shout out to PatPat because I will be watching with Anticipation!!!! Every day of every year for several years now and I love and respect you all!!! I love all the animals, the haying was nice this year, the harvesting of Erin’s garden for the EPP- project to help the less fortunate, the children are always a delight to see what interest them, interactions of the neighbors(GARY), and I have enjoyed the road trips to and from “freezer camp”. Maybe at sometime can you show us more of the area, town, state, interesting places coming back from dropping off the cows. I just like to see the different areas of this beautiful United States we live in together. We are so very fortunate and I am so thankful to God every day that He chose to plant me where I am and I try to grow and hopefully make it a better garden and not be a weed!!! Be a 🌻 not a 🥀!!!!! I'm glad to watch you Mike. I've learned so much from watching your channel. I watch some other KZbinrs in Oklahoma "Eddy family farm". Bought a donkey like Ethel size from the auction 5 days ago. She was pregnant. She went into labor. Baby was stuck. Momma was ripped. Both died. They also bought a baby bull calf at the same auction. It is so neat the content you get between each KZbinr. How each KZbinr does things differently for each farm. So much more knowledgeable than the gosh darn tv. 17° brrrrr.🥶 Yuck. I hope KY doesn't get that cold very often. That's hibernating weather. My brother used to tell me growing up. You know it's cold when your boogers freeze. Or like dumb and dumber when they were on the small bike going to Aspen. He peed and they froze together. 😅

Sonne Farms may barter registered bulls for jerkey. Good luck adding referigation to hold inventory. A meat variety pack that includes a piece of merchandise (hat) would help sell ground meat. Good luck with moisture and a mild winter.

Sadly, the open diagnosis was almost predictable on number 2. She served her purpose well so this tough decision will be bearable. Glad to hear that Bambi made it but the four empties will need also to be addressed as tough ranching decisions. I remember that this spring two open diagnosed heifers went on to produce calves and not just as the last ones born. Maybe one or two of the opens are really pregnant and can go on to serve the ranch for several more years. That was a bummer that the A-team trip to Sturgis on the same day as preg test, wasn't it?

I had to thin my herd a little because of the hay issue. I had 5 cows that I had to set a bale ring over the calf in order to tag them. Guess which 5 went on the trailer for the first time in their life.

Spray or MarkHer paint to mark a line on the top of shoulder makes sorting easier. We used green for pregnant, blue for open to be re-serviced, and red for open do not re-breed.

I am from Wyoming, and there are few meat processing plants in Wyoming, and none are located in his area. I am in Casper, Wyoming, and currently, we have two small meat processing plants that currently not doing domestic and going wild meat during the hunting seasons because USDA processing rules state that wild meat (deer and elk) and domestic meat ( cows and pigs) can't be mixed in the same plant at the same time without deep cleaning and clean certificate for both ways. Wyoming is a big hunting state where tons of out-of-staters come and pay massive hunting tags. This also affects local residents because one of Casper's meat packing plants got bought out from a guy who processed meat for 45 years, and the new owners are placing out-of-state hunters over local residents.
