Oddly enough I really enjoy harrowing, spreading manure, mowing hay, raking, and baling. I know many people think it is monotonous, but I enjoy the simplicity and putting my mind into it.

I love it when the cows are all standing around you and you talk to them. One day, they will answer. Glad your princess is still doing well. Ask Mckenzie how she would like the name Lilibet. Lilibet became Queen Elizabeth II. So it will be like little princess.

When I was helping out on the family farm. Never had to do a switcharoo. We had a routine for cows/cattle. We never had water in the stalls. We let them out for water twice a day, put in hay and other feed, clean their stalls out and do whatever we need to the calf during that time. If we are working on the calf, We always had some hay outside the stall to keep her distracted (as they always go for a bite as normal and it is normal for her to see it) with the stall door closed as normal, only door open when we are cleaning or letting them in or out. This way the cows knows the same routine. We never had issues, but it is more work. Only when helping on other farms I see issues where calf work such as tagging, injections is not built into normal routines. Calves and cows be distressed and risks to us increased.

👍👍👍. Great way to end my day watching another 30/30 awesome video. We’ve been in drought conditions for several years and got notice new meters installed will regulate our area and more water cops on patrol. Weatherman claims rain but none comes only blowing winds. Sure loved my days on tractor in TN as we worked for rent and caring for baby black angus bulls preparing for the big fair near where landowner had 3000 acres. Those were the times where weather report was accurate and climate control no issue. Be nice if those days were here again. Moved back to California on our own small ranch and ya had to apply for more water if had livestock over three acres. Do hope ya get some rain cus April used to be the month of showers and be nice if your fields get lush. Baby calf sure is small and probably sleeps a lot so she can develop still. Still not ready to be set free but maybe momma will be more cordial to you being there more. Great job taking us on your chores and showing the real life of ranching. With no extra help makes for long days but sometimes it’s better that way 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

That is a good size chain harrow , been using one on our pasturesfor years . And also after spreading manure on the field , across the fields that spreads it out better
@messianichebrewshawnkawcak15503 жыл бұрын
Like a farmer that cultivates and plants is preparing for the rain. Harrowing seems like a light version of the disc in farming. Do you have to replant the hay every year? I hope you still get sleep during this 30 in 30, what a commitment on your part. Thanks for letting us see the lifestyle and your commitment to this series and ranching.
