Here is another Out for the trash video to see if we can fix what other people have thrown away. It is a Lasko Cyclone fan with a 2, 4, or 8 hour timer. There is Bonus footage at the end also.
This video was made as a demonstration on how to repair things and should not be done with out the proper training and safety equipment. The G Automotive and More and Its affiliates are not responsible for any damage or personal injury. Please if you don't have the ability to do these demonstrations, don't try and get a professional to do it for you.

Those have a safty plug so in side the plug that are a fuse in it and the part of the cord that got cut probably shorted out and blowed the fuse

@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore When I rewired a Lasko 16" pedestal fan that I found next to three dumpsters, I used a spare power cord with a blue plug from a Lasko 18" pedestal fan that I failed to fix. The plug matched the original, so I didn't have to bypass the safety feature.

@@kwinters5550 Where can you find that safety plug? they dop not sell it anywhere.

They do it to make you buy a new one. You can buy a cord with a replaceable fuse, then just use fuse rated the same like 5 Amps. Lasko could have easily made it properly, with a little door on the plug, with a replaceable fuse. The lawyers probably made them do it too, to avoid people burning down a house.@@guayabito6946

I have seen these still working great from the 1950s, when the motors were made by Westinghouse, IN THE USA! No plastic, all metal, and pre-offshoring

I have a vintage Lakewood fan from 1970s and it’s 50 years old, it’s still running perfectly like day one. Even my 1982 galaxy 16 inch desk fan still works like day one after all these years. Seems like new fans are more prone to be thrown in the trash than the old ones. that’s why I will keep my old electric fans running as long as I live. In fact, they do not make them like they used to.

The hole is to line-up the flat spot on the shaft.

He didn't know it had a non-replaceable fuse??? It's to force you to buy a new fan LOL The only reason they would seize and overheat, is due to lack of vacuuming out fan and motor occasionally, and re-oiling the sleeve bearings, after cleaning them. With proper maintenance, they can last decades.

To get the fan blade off couldn't you twist the nub in the middle and take it off?
@TheGAutomotiveAndMore

No the nub was made on to the fan. I didn't want to brake it. So I just worked around it. Thanks for watching

@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore These fans use friction-fit to secure the blades onto the motor shaft. They should pull off easily but some of them are a little tight due to the sizes being ever so slightly off.

You just pull up on the blades it will come off can be a pain in the butt if it hadn't been off in a while

save yourself some time and effort, just pull out the fan blade and there you go, you get access to the motor, the wires, etc... No need to unscrew anythign, just pull that sucker off its shaft. Voila!

My cyclone fan died after 2 or 3 years. It won't run at all. Typical low quality junk probably made in china. So disappointed in this product. Speed control nob broke couple of months after I got it. Cyclone=junk

I used to have a cheap Galaxy pedestal fan, and it died after 3 years. Same with the Lasko Cyclone, not very good quality either, but I used my Galaxy stand fan for parts. I found a Lasko stand fan model 2521 at the dump, and it had a severe chip in the blade. Again, cheap junk. I put the Galaxy's blade on the Lasko, so I was able to fix the Lasko 2521.

I have one that has been running in my garage constantly since the summer of 2014 or 2015 to keep my tools from rusting, and I got it used. I didn't change the fan speed very often. The last power outage we had killed it. Hopefully, it's the cord. God bless you all!
Fix (almost) any Lasko box fan from 2001 or later
