you have a good singing voice and did a good version but this is a song about unrequited love not religion ...i do believe there is something out there i have even had dead family and friends come to with messages but i have no religion and as a tribute to Irene changing the lyrics was disrespectful by all means do a cover of the song changing whatever you like but this was remembering Irene Cara who did exist not a possible faith healer who may or may not have existed so you should do a re recording remembering her with her lyrics .....just an observation from someone whose pleasure listening to your singing was spoiled by forced religion
