Out of Context: "More Than You Can Handle" // Time of Grace

Christians love to say, "God won't give you more than you can handle" when they encourage friends and family who are overwhelmed. Except there's a major problem with this: that's actually not a verse in the Bible. There's a verse similar to it in the New Testament. When the apostle Paul wrote his words, he wrote them as both a warning and a comfort.

Wow really enlightened. Did not know it wasn't in the Bible. Yes I have felt overwhelmed before and if someone said that to me I probably would have walked away. Simple: If God didn't allow more than we could handle, we wouldn't need Christ as the propitiation for our sins. That simple fact alone nullifies the false claim that "God won't give you more than you can handle." We can't even 'handle' our own sin!
