I have a Bichon Frise, naturally I love Fiona. 😍 I have 3 dogs, the Bichon, a Shih-tzu, and a Shih-tzu poodle mix. The 4 year old Bichon has a heart problem and the Shih-tzu is almost 8, so they're pretty mellow dogs. But the Shih-tzu is only 2 and has quite excessive energy. A 40 minute walk is enough for the first two dogs, but not for the youngest. So what I do is to play fetch when we got home, so the Shih-poo can burns her energy.

@@FIRING_BLIND cause she was being locked in it to much. Crates can be used as safety nets for dogs if they are used properly. @nicoledb341 . Yes, like most dog owners. They never think it through or research before getting a pup. I have a bichon who is now 2.5 years old and I thought it through and did my research for a year before getting my dog. I also taught her the basic commands from 4 months old and still do obedience training with her now but adding new commands! It's like having a human toddler they need discipline, obedience training, walking, etc. EVERY day and too many people who own a dog do not even fulfil these basic needs!

Unbelievable! This young lady gets a pup, crates it all day in too small a crate, never walks it, doesn't train it, the dog is out of control... and she wants to add another to the mix of bad behaviour? She doesn't deserve to have a dog at all after all that. They were very lucky to have Victoria come to help them train the dog otherwise I'm sure the mother would have told her to take the dog and leave, and then the poor innocent pup would really have suffered.

The brother calling Jessica a bad mother, might come to realise Florence wasn't the best of mothers either. From what I learned from this video, she favoured her daughter over her son, and what kind of person takes the opportunity of their child being away to get rid of that child's beloved dog?!! That is just cruel. Edit to say that my dad had this happen to him when he was six. His father died and then they took away my dad's dog. My dad is almost eighty, and he still talks about it. Pets play such an important role in a child's life. They are family to them, and a great comfort. It's an absolute cruelty to just take away a child's pet, especially when they're not around to say goodbye.

right? n even if she didn't actively get rid of Toby, it sounds like she did not at all handle it well. Did she comfort him? Why was he told like that?? if he was picked up, why wasn't he told *before* arriving home n calling out for his beloved dog? if Toby really ran away/got lost/was stolen - did she or others look for him? was he assured that Toby was being looked for?

@@nybsbfan18 I feel like that still leaves a lot of room for badly handling this, like, she should have tried to have had a serious conversation with him before he called out for his dog n was confused when the dog didn't come, which sort of makes it sound like she/they were hoping he wouldn't realise the dog was gone? She should have been aware that while she may have not have cared for the dog, her son did n his emotions should have been respected. From his story of finding out that his dog was gone, I do not blame him at all for having unresolved issues n fearing that his mother did get rid of his dog, even if it being an accident is, I'll admit, more likely

They cannot be left alone. They are extremely attached to their owners. They require grooming every 4 weeks and DAILY maintenance. Two walks a day. Training. Are picky eaters. But by far one of the most intelligent and loving breeds who adore both other dogs and people. Bred for royal children. These owners clearly did zero research. I couldn't watch it all, they disgusted me at didn't walk her. I wanted to get a flight and rescue Fiona. Bichons are extremely special dogs.

Fiona is so sweet! We had family farm dogs - aka, big, outdoor, keep the bear, moose and other animals off the yard kinda dogs - growing up. It was scoffed at and considered frivolity to have an indoor dog that “had no purpose”. I broke the mold at nearly age 50 and got my first puppy about a year ago, after spending almost 2 years researching what kind of dog would suit me, as well as how to train it and provide it the best care possible. I chose a Bichon Frise, and I LOVE her!!! She is extremely smart, fun, spunky, obedient, and an amazing cuddly companion. I never would have thought it possible for a dog to learn so many things in such short time, or to be so attuned to how I am feeling and she brings me so much joy. I am not healthy enough to work out of the house, and so I am at home almost all the time. There hasn’t been a time that she has been left in her crate yet, though I suppose there may come a time it is necessary. I would expect, though, that someone I love and trust would take over her care rather than me just leaving her alone. One thing that just astounds me about her is how much she simply adores me! I’m serious - she follows my every move, and I’m “her person.” She bases every decision she makes (minus a few very doggy-inspired instantaneous impulses here and there) on how she can illicit a pleasant response from me. I would be so sad to ever make her feel abandoned, even for a short time, and hope I never need to leave her alone and confused without a trusted person caring for her. It’s the very least I can do for her tender sweet puppy heart.

I'm not surprised she doesn't want to go back to the owner upstairs who puts her back in that room for hours alone. I'm a wheelchair user and I have a dog just like Fiona (her name is sage) and always have her around because she's very loving just like fiona and it makes being ill so much less lonely, she brings so much joy every single day~ (and her behaviour isn't perfect either haha!) but I wouldn't dream of putting her in that room alone! How sad she must feel. The fact she was in the crate at the start before all those hours too- I don't think this family should have a dog at all. Especially since there's a threat of her 'going missing'.

Fiona just needed some attention, positive reinforcement, things to engage her, and walking. I can't believe they have such a big back yard, and the dog wasn't even getting to go out there. I love the mom, Florence.

What a beautiful little dog. She will become such lovely company with Mom. I was shocked when the daughter was planning on sneaking another dog into the home especially leaving Fiona in that tiny crate all day 😮

I've seen small dogs that have worse behavior than that. I feel like it was a lot of training the humans rather than the dog in this one. Did you see how close to the edge of the counters they left food? They created the temptations. And it's pure laziness that she wouldn't walk her dog. And that crate! That was cruelty and just sheer laziness. The owner could have at least thought to put a gate up like that and then Fiona had the whole room at the very least and her toys. But the training, that's a smart pupper!

Exactly, you never use a carry crate to keep your dog in for long periods, you use a larger crate that the dog can move around and actually be comfortable. That was pure cruelty, and then never walking the poor pooch was even worse. I know why she didn't put up the baby gate, though, because she didn't want fiona to mess in her bedroom and destroy everything because that's exactly what would have happened. I'm so glad they got the help they needed.

My chihuahua had a carrier for a crate. Difference is I didn't use it as a jail cell, I was just his happy quiet place he went in by choice to have peace.

they have a decent yard... why not idk put up a fence and let her go in the yard? at least in the yard she can run around, get some smells in, get to run around,be a dog and roll around and get her toys involved that is an awesome location.

Likely laws around fences and cost. Most places require permits to build a fence which is an extra cost on top of the fence.

I love that another positive thing that happens with the training is people who haven’t been able to find their “No.” voice find their voice. And become empowered. I always hope that flows into all aspects of their home dynamics Cuz there’s usually at least one person who is getting run over and one or more who need to get👏🏻it👏🏻 together. 😂
