Thanks I am always very clumsy and used to tripping on things but seem to come out of it mostly unscathed. I agree about the live tasting idea it will be happening once it's ready.

Hi Pierre I owe you a massive thank you! I started adding campden tablets to my brews after seeing you do this. The difference has been huge! No more off flavour in my beer!! I thought my tap water was ok. Had no idea what a different the chlorine/ chloramide would make. Cheers!!

Maltodextrin is mostly not fermentable and wouldn't contribute much to alcohol content. LDME, or better still a combo of LDME, dex and a little maltodextrin would give a better result in terms of alcohol content, flavor and head retention. Cool vid mate.

Where do I begin? First are you saying you can buy beer extract at your local grocery store? That seems crazy from my perspective but cool too. Flies...I keep forgetting it is Summer time in your neck of the woods and supposedly flies can smell rotting meat from up to 7 km away and I strongly suspect they can smell sugar from close to that same distance. (Why I have that pitcher plant you've seen which is struggling to survive our Florida winter). Also I officially think you are probably just as accident prone as I am and found it scary but slightly entertaining (once we knew you didn't eat it)... I usually cut those from my vids but have been considering a blooper reel for something not much different. Lastly - Fermzilla - I use to want one of those but you an a few other brew tubers scare me with that thing always checking for leaks plus all the areas it could leak. Also I've heard that it supposedly has a shelf life which I would think you could just replace the o-rings but for now I'll stick to my glass and few cheap plastic carboys.
@SimpleHomeBrew4 жыл бұрын
I think it's all the covid zombies walking around attracting the flies. I tend to leave mishaps in my videos as I can't seem to find the time to make blooper reels. as for the Fermzilla, most leaks come from the quick connects on top, if you maintain the O'Rings they really never give any problems. After about two years of using PET fermenters it's recommended to pressure test them for durability.. I have pressure tested my Fermentasaurus at 70 psi with the fermenter full of water it held the pressure for 2 minutes without a problem. It's now good for two more years.

U trollin? Of course u can buy malt extract at supermarket....im in Perth wayyyy under the globe on the edge of the desert and we can ....
@beautyfox66832 жыл бұрын
Hello Pierre love your videos I've been binge watching them all. I do have a question, I make stouts by mixing light extracts with dark speciality gains I make a wort from them an go from there. Do u think I could use the homebrand extract as my base malt To make my stouts, I only make dark beer, because I only make what i personally love to drink.
@SimpleHomeBrew2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I believe it will work a treat especially if you do a partial mash. You can use the base stout like home brand and add what ever you like for added flavours. Sounds like great idea, I think I will do that on my next video. Cheers for the idea.
