Great vid guys, it's not hard to get caught out don't worry too much, it can happen to anyone that gets out on a few camping trips . You only have to change one variable like the weight of the boat, tide or wind as you pointed out, but I think by filming it and explaining where you miscalculated will be a great education for any aspiring young adventurers. Also I like seeing the products you use and recommend because not everyone has the time to test everything. At least it's not popping up on the screen every five minutes, cheers.

Hi guys love watching your videos, great content. I see you now own a 60 Yamaha, awesome little motor but they do have a couple of issues, one that may be of interest to you seem you do a lot of remote trips is they have a bad habit of sucking little pebbles up through there water intake in the leg, these pebbles work there way up through the water cooling pipes that go to the fuel cooler on the right hand side of the motor in behind the intake manifold. you will know when this happens because the engine idle sound changes and you start to hear like a quite whistling sound coming from the motor and it will just stop while your idling along, this is because the fuel cooler is not getting water and the fuel starts vaporising. You will need to follow the small grey water feed lines to the cooler remove them and blow them out and or use a piece of wire to remove pebbles that have gone into the cooler itself, i hope this helps and may get you out of trouble one day. Regards Gav.

In crappy weather slower is usually better. Running too fast in swell is super bad. You dont want to run out of gas but you really REALLY dont want to nose dive of the top of a swell into a step swell or hole in crossing swells, take on water, maybe have the boat capsize. Used to drive boats for urchin divers and a few boats from the harbor were lost from trying to run away from weather in the weather (all crew rescued but one after 3 days on the capsized hull), once its on you you have to be more patient and drive according to the sea state. sometimes pretty slow if its crossing swells and big holes forming you have to dodge, or bow into a hole, boat stops, swell catches up to you and turns the stern right over. that's how one friend spent 3 days capsized and adrift.

Shit, that sounds terrible. Its all time on the water learning isnt it, Getting to know your boat and the way the ocean can behave in different conditions

You should be able to get Yamaha outboard data, including fuel consumption , into your Raymarine MFD via an NMEA2000 connection (depending on how old your motor is).

I carry a 800w generator which easily runs 3x 20amp chargers across 3 vehicles for 4 hours on a tank and weighs 9kg It's saved plenty of fridges full of prime meat... Food for though 🤙

I noticed that you don't have a sting ray fin on the outboard leg. Do yourself a favor and put one on. You'll get out quicker and plane at a lower speed. And trim out which will get better full economy and ride. There are a few different brands but they all work good luck, Wayne the Welder

@@WildReaches I have a Quintrex 440 Hornet Trophy and it had a 40hp on it at the dealer. As part of the deal when I bought it, I told them to put on the biggest motor that it could take, which was the Yamaha 60hp (almost identical to yours), it even feels under gunned for my boat (hard to get up on the plane sometimes 😞), so the 60hp is way to small for your girl.
