My top shelves are full. My middle shelves are full. My bottom shelves are full. My totes are full. Hi Tracy, Yes, sewing needs a lot of storage. It's complicated to tidy if we don't have place. I storage all my frabrics in cabinet and all folded by colors. Sometimes I wonder if it's not better to storage by fabric composition (linen, cotton, organza, etc..)

Man I wish I could stay on top of my mess....I organise and set it all up and within a few crafting sessions it is getting out of control again.... and I wade through it stubbornly because I just want to create in that finite hour I have found between work study and kids! Oh your basement is too fabulous for words! I just have a small bedroom for my crafts and what I have found works best for me are three tier rolling carts. I have five of them and three fit into the closet at once and I can just swap them out according to what I am making and pull them up to one of my machines or my work table. I like to dig around like you do.

Oh do I wish I had that space! I've been collecting vintage linens for over 20 years and am having so much fun making the bags of your tutorials. I have so much stuff and I attempted to organize it and did a fairly good job but I have a townhouse, no basement, so I had to put some stuff up the attic and other stuff all over the house. You have inspired me to have the courage to dress more how I love! I know my age helps..57…so am at a place in my life to just be me, and have the time and know myself better to KNOW what I love and don’t. The last 30+ years, my time as a boy mom of 4 boys…2 I had at 38 and 40…my life has been leggings, jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts. And very little time! As time has went on, I realized that I love feminine, and more modest styles. I’ve been a seamstress for years, learned how to sew from my mom at a very young age. Have worked in a high end men’s shop and did alterations, plus also in my home…wedding and bridal. But I am only doing for close friends and family now. I want to create, but I love the idea of up-cycling, and using old and new to create! My style is very similar to yours…except my tends to go to darker colors. Thank you so much for the time, creativity, your process and lovely spirit that comes through! 🥀

“It can get out of control” … you’re telling me! My husband will never understand that my “stash” of carefully curated supplies is my lifeblood for my creating. He sees it as thrift shop stuff. Maybe if I stored it more like you do on racks he might realise it’s worth! I do use shelves and plastic tubs and smaller boxes. I have a couple of gorgeous antique cupboards too, perfect for fat quarters. I store ribbon spools on a cut broomstick. Loved this video. Loved it,

Excellent find in the bottom drawer of the dresser! Love the dresser. If you don't want to fix the broken drawer you can take it out and replace it with a piece of wood on the bottom and use it as a shelf. Some good organizing ideas, thanks.

Your set up is so perfect! Your basement is the size of my house so you can imagine how it looks full of supplies... and my dh is a saint for not fussing about it HA. Your clothing racks are a dream come true. I hung bike hooks on the ceiling and hung a rod in the spare bedroom that is my clothes closet now. Can do!

I love all the space you have. I have a large home but I didn’t want my sewing room upstairs. I have two bedrooms downstairs but one is the primary and the other is very large like a second primary and it’s our guest room. So I have my sewing room in what was a large storage closet type room. It has a bunch of built in shelves and I have just enough room in one end for my two commercial machines. My only real problem is I don’t have room for a cutting table or ironing board. I use my kitchen island to cut things out and have to press things in my laundry room. I don’t sew as much as I used to so it’s not a big hardship but do miss having everything in one room. In my old home I had a converted one car garage as my sewing room and had room for a cutting table and ironing board.

Oh Traci, you are my kindred spirit!! I just fell in love with all your bits and bobs! I have very similar taste to yours.I have a very small bedroom I turned into my craft/sewing room. I have one heavy metal shelve to hold all my beads, Czech beads and jewelry notions and findings. I too use old dressers to house my laces which I finally got them all in order and wound on card for laces. I so agree with you on organizing one's space, it does help, when creativity gets going and you can go to where you need to make it happen. I love your outfit you're wearing so posh!! I have so much quilting material and different widths of laces. I don't have alot of big patterned fabrics for appliques. I have very little leather or swede. I have alot of embroidery pillow cases. Not so many UK crafters can have space and size of a basement like yours)) I keep bits here and there, which is annoying for me and my family, and very often this is the reason why I don't feel like crafting🙈, not mentioning the weather 😂. However I have " borrowed" a few of your useful ideas. Thank you so much for sharing your tips on how to sort out fabrics and scraps. I especially like your " lost and found" treasures part.
