Is not a good idea. I keep my raw fleeces in barrels outside and try to keep all dirty fiber outside. Yes, I have a lot. It is the only income stream at the moment. Each fleece is in its own bag to keep it easier to deal with them. The cold New England winter keeps them safe from infestations.I have a huge collection of mason jars and I am thinking of selling my kits in jars and also storing fiber in them so the separate fibers and colors can be seen easily. Now if I can only figure out a way to organize and build an indoor space for washing, flicking, carding, and wet felting…. I need a studio.

I know "everyone is different", but I HAVE to share that I would be a crippled mess after a broken hip in 2019 if I hadn't had the good fortune to have a M A R V E L O U S "tech" work on it TO BREAK UP THE SCAR TISSUE THAT HAD DEVELOPED THERE in the FOUR WEEKS it took me decide "you don't wait for the pain to go away BEFORE you get to therapy!!!" That said, lo these 5 years later, I will still get sacroiliac pain IF I DON'T WALK !!! (for me it's THREE TIMES per WEEK; mall walking; flat smooth surface; air-conditioned ... The grocery store works, too, if I go at a slower time of day.) I have to remind myself regularly "USE IT O R LOSE IT!!!" Again, "You do You"!! I will still get a little stoved up if I stand crafting too long, but at 75, I'm walking upright and NOW can make the nearly 2 mi circuit just fine in about 45 mins. Marathon times are not required; just motion! You will find, though, perhaps, that it's a bit boring, so you'll either put on steam to get through it, OR find a walkin' buddy to make the time go faster. Best of Health to you, mog-g!!

I’m a cross stitcher and have tons of floss. I tried multiple methods of organizing until I found one that works great for me. I bought little floss zip lock style bags that have a space for writing the DMC color number and a small hole in the flap beyond the zipper. It enabled me to “file” non DMC brands under the DMC equivalent number, didn’t require removing floss from the skein and winding on anything and the holes enabled me to get large hinged key rings to organize the floss by color number. 3 big rings hold all my floss on cup hooks installed on the inside of my dining room closet. When I have a project I take index cards and write the project name and color number for each color needed, then punch a hole in the card. I remove the colors needed from the floss ring and replace it with the appropriate card. Then I corral all the colors needed for my project on a smaller hinged key ring so nothing gets lost while I’m working on it.

TYVM for sharing your ideas. I am a "A.D.D." Crafter and dabble in many (probably too many ;O) ) different crafts. I love the rain gutter idea for the ribbon. I would say my main craft is 3D needle felting, so to add my 2 cents... wool is highly attractive to critters, be they dogs, cats, bugs, etc. so I can say without a doubt, (my) best way is to use the closet organizers. I have 3 of the 8 pocket hanging organizers and I put the wool in ziplock gallon size bags (even if it is only an ounce of wool...) I then arrange my colors from top to bottom as so, top is black, skin tones, and greys. then as I go down, browns, purples, blues, greens, yellows, oranges, then on the bottom pockets, reds and pinks. Wool should not be stored where the light gets to it all the time. I have a plastic bear cookie container that I got at wally world for about 4 bucks with animal crackers in it to boot, which I dumped out and gave to the Grands... Anywho, I put my tiny scrap pieces in it to make dryer balls or the inside of another sculpture, but mostly I end up making balls of various sizes which I end up wet felting, to give to my dog and my cat so they feel included and don't try to make off with what I am making... lol... in my home, not a drop of wool gets wasted ;) Underneath the hanging organizers, I have a box for the skewers, needles, chenille stems, (which you can sort by color & putting them into the tubes you get from tinfoil, etc. which are sturdier than paper towel holders... ) and the other assorted supplies needed for sculpting wool. It's so much easier to keep your own inventory to see what you need to replace when the time comes to reorder wool... Well, I am off to check out your other videos. I just found your channel today, so far, I am liking your ideas! God Bless ~

Hello. I am new to your channel and am a quilter. The technique you are describing for folding fabric is known as ruler folding. A common size quilting ruler is 6.5” x 24”. Fold the fabric so the selvedges match then wrap around the ruler with the fold at one end and the selvedges at the other. Once it’s all wrapped, remove the ruler and fold in half so the folded edge is on top of the selvedges. All of your fabric is now the same width and looks so nice stacked up.

I use one of those photo box cases that has 16 boxes inside that hold 4x6 photos. They are great for embellishments. You can get clear, or somewhat clear colored boxes in them. I have two of those cases. I think I paid $12 each for mine. Also great for some of the tools. I also have scissors, brushes, pencils, stylus, pick up tool, and others, in various jars that I fit into a round cookie tin, that I just set onto a kitchen turntable. I'd been collecting jars to decorate with vinyl, but haven't done but one, so far....So, whatever jars fit in the tin, and would hold my tools loosely, I put in. The whole thing cost me what I paid for the turntable, about $8. Everything else, recycled, and on hand.

Great ideas as always! If you are limited in space and household real estate, you might choose a digital hobby. I do digital scrapbooking with Adobe Photoshop Elements. All I need is my laptop, some external hard drives (you could use the cloud instead of physical hard drives) and organization. Everything can be done digitally, saved as a jpg file, uploaded to Shutterfly, create a book and have it printed. I've done genealogy books this way, recipe books this way, my DAR chapter scrapbooks, Bible study and journaling books, gifts for nieces/nephews and grandnieces/grandnephews, books on history with current events. I've even written some children's books for the grands with pictures of themselves as the main character (examples Brooke In Space, Once Upon A Time There Was A Boy Named Brett). This takes up zero space in your home. I believe it keeps the costs down (printing the books isn't cheap but I wait for sales). No clutter. My laptop is highly organized. I have folders, sub-folders and I'm careful in how I name files. I can generally find what I need to build each 12 x 12 page. So your organization is digital. There is no clutter, no unfinished projects laying around, no equipment and supplies to store, etc. I taught myself how to use Photoshop Elements with books from the library. I've been doing it over 10 yrs now and I can't imagine going back. I haven't had to purchase digital elements to use because there are generous people who offer freebies all the time. Organization is KEY with your files. You keep up with your digital papers, elements, fonts, masks, etc. Let's say you want to keep your papers organized. Create a folder called "My Papers" then create subfolders for each color. In my case I would have Blue solid papers and Blue papers with designs. You can get more organized by creating sub-subfolders. So, in my example, I have a folder for Blue solid papers but there are a whole range of blues such as pale blue, turquoise blue, dark blue, navy blue, royal blue, aqua blue, teal blue, etc. You can create sub-subfolders for those different shades of blue. Subfolders such as Blue Turquoise Solids and Blue Turquoise Designs OR you can name your files with the shades of blue such as BlueTurquoiseSolidbyJaneDoeofDoeDesigns10-1-2021 or BlueTealSolidbyChristyNonameof HelloChristyScrapbooks10-2-2021. Then you sort your folder alphabetically and you have all the BlueTurquoises together and all the BlueTeals together. I have learned one thing I wish someone had told me when I started and that is to keep the source of your digital elements in some way (by creating file names with that info or folders with that info). That way I could have given credit and would be able to enter my digital scrapbook pages in online Galleries. But I didn't do that and I regret it. I also wish I had kept the original digital files together under the designer's name as well as duplicating them into my organization system. Why? Because the colors and styles go together AND for the reason I mentioned above, I can give credit and enter my work in Galleries. You would be duplicating the files, doubling the file storage but I really wish I had done that. Let's say one external hard drive are the kit files organized by designers/vendors and another external hard drive with the files organized by type, color, etc. Another example: digital flowers. There are real looking roses, rose bushes, rose bouquets, painted roses, sketched or handdrawn roses, rose stickers, roses on other elements such as roses on brads, roses on banners, roses on journaling blocks. There are also pink roses, red roses, yellow roses, peach roses, white roses. You have to decide how you want to organize your roses and other flowers in a way that makes sense to you so you can easily find what you are looking for.

Depends on the volume of each type of item and your organization style. For example, when I had fewer rubber stamps, I kept them in a (new/clean) shallow pizza-type box, where I could see every stamp when I lifted the lid. Now that I’ve outgrown that box, I’ve graduated to a craft cabinet.

I am a multicrafter. I embroider, cross stitch, sew, quilt, knit, crochet and recently started doing some papercrafts. I do not like to leave thread, yarn or fabric in open bins. They collect dust and pet dander which aggravate my allergies. I have a set of Martha Stewart containers in four sizes. I am able to change out the contents as I acquire or use items. I use the smaller containers as project boxes. They currently occupy about 3 feet of a spare closet in a stack about 4+1/2 feet high. I recently made a peg board for my craft corner. I now have an 8 foot home for all my tools. I no longer have to remember which container I put them in. Such a relief! I keep felt sheets in a accordion plastic organizer and file by color. I don’t have a lot. But I was thinking to use a hanging file folder and put in a file cabinet that I rescued. I have lots of hanging file crates currently. I plan to transfer those files into the file cabinet in my storage room. And use the crates for other items. I’m going to take pictures and vlogging the transformation of my crafts storage room. Inspired by your ideas and another video that I watched where the lady used diy ideas to organize her craft room.

That's a great idea!!!!!!! I always suggest using what you have... And it's so easy to elevate the look so it matches a theme. You can spray paint the crates any color, and cover the front hanging file in a cute paper so the boxes are pretty from the front!

I keep my dmc floss in divided boxes on cards, numbered. My full skeins of threaded are sorted by number (200-300), etc and stored in zip lock bags in a small shoebox tote. When I do a project, I have zip lock bags on LG binder rings, just drop each color bobbin in a bag, put scissors, threader in a bag, then put material with the thread binder in a bag with the pattern and ready to work on anywhere.

My creative outlet is painting furniture. Most of the paint I use comes in quart jars, and they take up a lot of room. Not to mention, the brushes, sand paper, finishing tools, etc. Right now, I have it stored on a 3 shelf floor rack in my laundry room, but my laundry room is fairly small, so there isn’t much room left for laundry supplies. I can store some of the non-paint supplies in my garage, but I don’t want to store the paint out there. Especially, in the summer. I would really love some ideas to store these supplies. I also recently purchased a Cricut Joy, so I’ll be needing storage for those items, as well. Lots of things going on in my world.

You pretty much hit all my crafts: quilting, embroidery, making journals and other various crafts on occasion. But I also do genealogy so I have six 3" binders and file folders and boxes of photos now that need organization by family. I also have done some diamond painting ( which is sticking tiny flat backed gems on canvas images). Not only do you need to store the gems that come with your kit while you work on it, you are also left with extra diamonds which so far I have stored in small stacking bead jars to use on future projects. It's cheaper to buy several painting kits at once to save on shipping and some people have tons of these. Some companies package everything in a boxy tube but the ones in my budget just come rolled and shipped in a bubble envelope package. I have to iron them cautiously to get the folds out and find a place to store them flat so they won't re-roll. I am in the process of organizing my craft studio which is an 8x10 bedroom and I have 5 black bookshelves. I've used black, white and gray for colors as my art will be very colorful on the wall space left. I've used so many of your ideas and they have been so helpful!

My ribbon and stencil storage (7 years and holding): ribbon in 2 yard cuts hung on necktie hangers. Hangers are hung on small dowels suspended in chain links. I have 5 dowels filled with ribbon. The entire thing hangs on the back of my craft room door. Cheap and visual solution. For my stencils, I attach small plastic retail adhesive j hooks and hang them on 2 6” pegboard hooks. They are easy to flip through, easy to take one down at a time and they never tangle, bend and get ruined. Also, I can rinse them then put them away to dry. Mine hang behind my desk so all I do is swivel to get them!

I use the cardboard crates that produce come in to store a lot of different things. The crates come in all kinds of sizes and strengths. The secret is to match the style up and then cover them. Most of them have tabs that make them stackable. I'm currently not making jewelry, so I have the different beads, hooks, pins, etc. in small plastic containers with lids ($$ Tree) which I lay on their sides and "stack" them from one side of the crate to the other. If there's still room I add other things. They then slide very easily under my bed. My wood-mounted stamps are organized in a crate under my bed. They are so easy to slide out. I've also used the idea to put cut-out magazine pictures in to collage with. I later categorize them according to subject and then file them.

Thank you for sharing your storage ideas for craft supplies. For my ribbon rolls I bought two pant hangers that have three “swing out” rods. I hang my ribbons by size, brand, and color and hang them on the back of my craft room door so they’re not “out of sight, out of mind.” I also bought hanging shoe holders for my punches. I punched one of whatever is in that particular space and taped it to the front of the space. Then I hung them in my closet. Otherwise I had them in a box and had to take the time to look for the one I wanted. It took so much time. I also wrote what size it was on the punched piece. Ty for your time and ideas!

I was given a case ( 25) large 1st class boxes that the USPS offers for free by a friend who was closing her online business. They're 12x12x12 inches & really sturdy. A great size for storing craft supplies. I folded the top flaps inside to make them more sturdy & made lids from them from larger boxes things had been delivered to me in. Making the tops was super simple. Then I painted the outside of the boxes & covered them in burlap. The tops I covered in a pretty paper. Then I cut a small window into one side of each box & glued a piece of heavyweight vellum to the inside so I could see a bit of what was in the boxes. They probably took me 20 minutes each & I did them when I had a few minutes to spare. It's been my nearly free since I had everything but the burlap already & that's ultra cheap salvation.

One large box gives you a set space for all of those things - as well as a visual limit on how much you can have! A different person suggested putting wheeled drawer type container in there so you can pull forward whatever you are storing there. My kitchen has 3 of these cabinets. On one cabinet the back side is in the knee space that has an eating counter overhead. I asked my handy man to make a pocket door there and replace the shallow shelf with a deep shelf. It is fantastic! From the front I had a 9" opening, from the back I have a 2 foot opening. It is now a space to store my meat slicer and mixing bowls, as well as my grilling accoutrements.

I keep my beads in plastic bead boxes, each one different color. Gemstones are probably different to deal with because they would be individual but if they fit in the bead boxes you can add a tiny slip of paper with gem name and price in the same section.
