Been watching but not commenting. Nice outcome on both the draft and trade market. I like the Galik move, makes sense considering we are likely losing both Weiss and Dorrah. I was cringing when the Red Sox wanted de la Paz in return, I REALLY didn't want to lose him as I see a crazy-good pitcher in the future. Good luck the rest of the way!

de la Paz could definitely be special, so I'm glad I found a way to keep him in the organization, even though I did have to give up another lefty who was already ready to help in the majors. We still have option years left with both Weiss and Galick, so they could both be back next season. If we do move on from Ortega, there is probably a path that lets us keep both of the pitchers around if we want to. At least for one year!

I'm glad that you didn't trade for Jenkins or Ibekwe. I was thinking to myself, 'if it 'ain't broke, don't fix it', so I'm glad that you came to the same conclusion also (with the help of Jenkins liking the climate in Florida).

I think it all worked out ok... hopefully Palomares will make me feel bad for even considering trading him with a great performance over the next three months!

I can just imagine the absolute outrage on Twitter and the like that you've kept Richards down in AAA despite his 1.156 OPS! Interesting that he doesn't seem to be all that caught up about it, though. Love the Galik trade, don't love that Jenkins decided to stick it out in Miami but keeping Palomares and Harman as the CFs is certainly fine considering where the team is at. I'm smelling a fourth World Championship on the horizons.

Ha, I hope you are right about the title. I feel real good about the team right now. Sometimes when I feel that way we win... but sometimes we still lose!

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make. The juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. Having said that. In ootp some of the best trades are ones that come to you. Keeping in mind you're gonna have to move Weiss since he won't extend. You now have a guy to slot in there

I hear you. I really wanted to make a big move since we're a win now team and this is likely our final season with Ortega, but agree that the potential improvement with what was out there in CF probably wouldn't really move the needle. Weiss and Galik are actually in a similar situation. Both headed into their final option years before potentially hitting free agency, so will have to keep an eye on how much they each want to extend and think about whether it makes sense to make a long term commitment to one of them!

I didn’t like the Galik for DeLaPaz potential trade, he’s just too good a future for us to allow to leave but the reworked one with Bennett and Navarro was a nice bit of work yet again👏🏻. I think it was the right non-move with Ibekwe / Palomares. Although I favoured the former over Bennett for health and age reasons I couldn’t really see any value for this season in bringing him in for Palomares who is hitting better, has the greater speed and can have some value for us being this season. Sometimes the grass isn’t always greener and it will be interesting to compare their numbers over this last couple of months of the season so I hope you can factor that into an episode once the season is done 👍🏼. This are certainly looking rosy in the Oakland garden and with Richards to come up there every reason to be very optimistic that this could be our year again.

I hope it all works out. And I definitely will check in on Ibekwe and Jenkins after the season, great suggestion!
