You don't talk about stage door as much as I think you think you do. You're the kindest most inspirational ever and you have every right to talk about things that irrate you. You're a hard working respectable person that I absolutely adore 💜 (I always feel weird commenting on videos so I'll anxiously disappear haha)

honestly i think the reason why you see a lot of people quit regular day jobs (or not tell people what they do or where they do it if they work in less public jobs) is because people DO follow them places, they DO pretty much get stalked like any famous person, it isn't right for them to have such crazy expectations of you, but it is something that you somewhat sacrifice for doing KZbin successfully that people will forget you're human.

Carrie I totally understand what you were saying at stage door. I'm an actor/singer/Tuber as well and I feel like no one who isn't in theatre or the performance world truly understands how much energy is required to go on stage and put it all out there. We have fun at work but it's not less demanding to our bodies. It's exhausting. We may not work 10 hour days everyday but the amount of energy we put Into our shows (let alone the working out, warming up, cooling down) is undeniable but often disregarded. I'm with ya girl.

Maybe fans/supporters could have an unwritten hopeful rule that "meet and greets and book signings are chances to say hello but theatre is your work place. Meaning attending theatre is an opportunity to see Carrie :) but on stage only- unless announced otherwise that Carrie will be at stage door after the performance. That way Carrie wouldn't feel obliged/under pressure/stressed to be there after every performance and hopefuls would go home 100% happy as well.

I just think it's so strange how oblivious people are to believe stage door is a meet and greet spot, like do they think that "wow this door with the 'authorised personnel only' sign, located as far away from the main entrance as possible, is probably just the place actors go when they want to entertain a crowd"? or is it maybe that the very purpose of having a special door is to be able to avoid the crowd at the main entrance so you can get your tired ass home in peace?

This videos about your theater life are the best thing ever! There are not many channels on youtube about this subject, and since I also am an actress I love to see this things. And I have to agree with you, cause people really sometimes except to meet the youtuber and most of the time they don't come to see the show because of the show. It is awesome to have an audience, but most of the times we do really want people to come and just see the show. Sometimes this can be really sad. Anyway, hope you are having a great time! Such a shame that you have had another bad stage door experience. Saw Chitty last night (Saturday) and it was amazing. When me and my brother found out you were in the show we knew we had to see it. We've been fans of yours and the show for years so it seemed perfect. We adored the show, both crying and laughing throughout. We waited at stage door, just on the off-chance, but never expected to meet anyone. We spoke to some people who didn't seem to understand that when you buy a ticket it does not entitle you to a meet and greet. Me and my brother had an amazing weekend in a city we never visited, we heard you sing live (which was astounding may I add) and had an incredible theatre experience. Thank you Carrie!

I would actually imagine that if a big youtuber had a 'normal' job, fans would show up there hoping for pictures and a chat as well. And while it may be true that a lot of people don't see working as an actor in a theatre as a difficult job compared to other jobs, I think that's a separate issue that isn't necessarily related to whether or not fans feel entitled to meet youtubers when they're done with their workday. I don't know of any myself but I see some other comments mentioning that there have been youtubers who were forced to quit their other jobs because fans showed up to them. I do think that the fact that your viewers are fully aware that you do meet/have met many viewers at stage door may have led to some of them believing that that's standard procedure rather than a privilege though, which may be what makes it seem like your job in the theatre in particular makes viewers think they're entitled to meet you at work.
@Carrie8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. I think my point about certain people not respecting acting as a real job, means their more inclined to demand your time at stage door because they don't respect that you've just done a full day of work. They think you have a laugh for a living and therefore you're a diva or a prima donna if you don't show at stage door. xxx

Jemima Murphy Yeah that's totally fucked up, at least in a workplace viewers technically have the right to be there because it is a public space, but I can't even comprehend why some fans think they're entitled to come to youtubers homes.

+ItsWayPastMyBedTime I think Rebecca Brown has addressed the same issues in a video? She worked in retail and fans would pop at the store just to see her and ended up not buying anything and abusing of her time, which might have caused here problems and embarrass with coworkers or bosses.

I always love watching videos like this when you talk about stage door. I saw the show Wednesday night (7th) in Birmingham and I thought you were amazing. I understand fully that you may not be able to come out after the show for a while( like this night in particular as you had a cast party) , or not even be able to stay for long or not at all. either way, and watching your vlogs and reading your tweets and posts about this made me understand more. however my boyfriend didn't fully understand why you couldn't take the time away from your party and come and meet your fans and said you were a "diva". we argued and I got rather passionate in defending you, as I know how it feels after a show ( although mine it's only amateur theatre but I'm sure you see my point) and you would love to meet your fans, but there are times when you are unable to. I do understand and respect that. I would have stayed there for as long as I possibly could but unfortunately I had to get my last train home, but even though I didn't get the chance to meet you or some of the other cast members ( I met phill and Claire so that was pretty cool making my mum jealous with that ) knowing that I was only 5 rows away from you, having only seen yourself, Lee mead and Matt Gillett on a tiny ipad screen on KZbin or TV shows, and through your books, it was still just as wonderful and magical as if I had of met you. Seeing one of my idols on stage finally after 2 years of wanting to ( so badly wanted to see Les mis and WOTW ) was beyond wonderful, I really hope I get to meet you one day.. just so I can thank you for absolutely everything. Thank you Carrie. For being... you :)

I've been to see Les Mis and Chitty with you in primarily because I love the theatre but I also think the thing that pushed me to actually buy the tickets was because I like you as a performer and youtuber and wanted to see you in a show. I've never waited for you at stage door though because that just feels weird to me, and I think you have explained it well here! I bet it kills you inside a little bit every time as a performer when someone comes to meet you and not really to see the show. I feel bad that after a long day of exhausting work (as a two hour long show is), you have to wait around chatting to strangers afterwards when you probably just wanna get home. I think you explained the situation well in this video and anyone who feels you have a responsibility to meet them at stage door really has the wrong idea! I loved both shows, by the way! Both made me cry at various points. There's just something about musicals. SO EMOTIONAL. Also Chitty was way funnier than I expected!

Now, I had huge hopes for this book, as I loved your previous book, and you are so kind and funny and such a lovely person that I really wanted to like On The Other Side. I didn't like it. I FREAKIN LOVED IT. IT IS NOW ON OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITES. I don't say that kinda thing lightly. The characters flew off the page, the storyline was mesmerising, the dialogue was beautiful. At 0:16 that's the house from Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971). Did you ever get to see John Barrowman? At 2:29, those have to be the fanciest theater boxes I've ever seen, I'd love to see a Broadway show from one of those someday. I agree with you about Stage Door, that people do have this preconceive notion that they are guaranteed to meet their favorite actor/KZbinr; when they forget that doing so is something an actor chooses to do themselves and that they are not contracted to do so otherwise. Was that board that you were lying on and then pushed yourself out the window, some sort of fire escape contraption? When you said Tower of Terror, I thought oh dear, I know where this is going, but was surprised that instead of dropping you thirteen stories; the elevator sings as you slowly descended like Glinda in her bubble. That elevator needs to be installed everywhere now, it is just too cool not to be.

It's the one with the graffiti on the side it right next to the car park (parking lot). The actual house from the movie was a set built on the back lot of Disney Studios in Burbank, California. Bedknobs, was set in the village of Pepperinge Eye, Dorest.

I follow some big KZbinrs in America who happen to be Call of Duty pros too and the biggest team have had problems with people showing up at their house, because they have a big house they all live in and even ordering them pizza to their door and it's just unacceptable! People need to start respecting that KZbinrs/Pro Players etc are people too and deserve their space. It's such a weird thing because I'm pretty sure that nobody is ordering pizza to the Kardashians or whatever. I think you deal with it all so well, Carrie. Well done you :) It does need to be talked about or people will never understand xx
