You get more than your moneys worth at a Prince concert. Each time I went was like electricity in the air and the people under hypnosis. You leave and you can hear people saying "wow" or like "I didn't know he was that good" or people saying it was the best concert they've seen. He performed over 1,400 full concerts and in 2004 the year was inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame, and the last time I saw him live, he sold out all 96 shows, 1.4million tickets sold, and grossed $87.5million, making it the top concert for the year. Simply the best. We will never see the likes of him in our lifetime. I think its funny when people say rest in peace Prince, if they knew him they would know there is no rest with him. He ate, drank, slept, woke up, went to work, make music everyday. There's tens of thousands of recorded material and videos and even stuff he wrote down that was in that vault. I'm out

This is one of his best performances IMO. Every time I hear this live version I get goosebumps. If you want to listen to him remake his hit Little Red Corvette (2009) at the same show is just fire. And If you want another song that's just fire and will make you jump around check out All The Critics Love you in Montreux same concert. That will make you wanna tear the roof off the house. Totally awesome..this is literally a piece of art. Truly phenomenal guitar playing, singing and stagecraft. Every time I’ve watched this, I’ve got goosebumps. My goodness, I wish I’d been there. Really miss this amazing man :-( Epic guitar solos, touching you deep inside your very soul and heart! A performance conveying utter despair, leading into frustration and anger. He’s almost on another planet, he is so much in “The Zone” playing ‘Empty Room’ and on the next song ‘Elixir’ his vocals are outstanding, speaking of enchantment and seduction. Vocal range on point! 10 minutes of a musical masterclass, and good grief he looks so delicious here at the age of 51! I could eat him he looks so good haha. He was like No other, people nowadays don’t even understand. Prince was the Greatest Of All Time.

Renato playing that beautiful solo is music Prince played when he wrote the music. Prince played the piano with the same skill as on his guitar. There is a rehearsal where he is playing “summertime” and it is so relaxed and beautiful. He can’t play any music less than his high standard. The rehearsal was in Japan, Tokyo and the band and Prince were doing a sound check.

@leeharrison8222 Жыл бұрын
Awesome reaction!! Please react to Prince's transcendent, live performance of "Purple Rain" in Syracuse, 1985. Also, any live performance of "Shhh". More, out-of-this-world guitar solos, plus some fantastic drumming by John Blackwell. You mentioned the lyrics. Fun fact: "Elixir" in this song is Prince for "he licks her." Prince loved to incorporate word play into his lyric writing. The whole song is basically him singing about going downtown. But what can you say--he sung the hell out of it. Brilliant execution for this Montreaux show. He did the song justice (probably that nice lady, too LOL.)
@servant1351 Жыл бұрын
The licking is due to a small cut caused by the big ring he WAS wearing earlier in this show. And BTW “Empty Room” was written when he was 17 after breaking up with his girlfriend who just happened to be Wendy Melvoin’s twin sister.

Just a guess: this version was inspired by( figuratively) MJ, who had died weeks earlier. Prince was devastated by his passing. After this concert, Prince stayed up until dawn on his Montreux suite's balcony, overlooking the lake, and talking to Tavis Smiley about Michael. Yeah...this was for Mike.💔 Neto is the Brazilian jazz pianist. The silky segue from the tortured Empty Room to sensual Elixir is beyond brilliant.

Perhaps my favorite reaction for this performance. 🔥🙏🏾 Also, for context at 3:14 - From what I know, he licked his hand because he cut it before doing this song. This would explain why he did it again at 6:07 because it was still bleeding during his solo. I don’t know how he exactly cut it though, possibly from the guitar or something.
