Great pov with speed tracking. the rain shaker sound, what is creating that sound?

Its the sound of the system moving through the water. When there is wind noise the mic doesn't pick it up but as the wind noise clears it can be heard. You nailed it with your description! it sounds just like a rain shaker! 🤙🤙

Looks so nice over there. We're still slowly thawing out lol. Good points keep the foil high in the wave. Something im going to have to experiment with. Oh and nice title pun.

It is a nice spot, there are far worse places out there I’m sure. Yes we’ll as you thaw out the cold will be settling in here but hopefully that brings storms with it. It doesn’t get too cold to foil in Auckland be it can get harder to motivate to get in the water especially if your wetsuit hasn’t dried out… foil high in the wave is one of the secrets to finding the energy. I’m at the age where dad jokes are starting to kick in…

Would be very interested to hear your thoughts re comparison of 1100 and 1180 Spitfire for downwinding. Currently learning and have 1300 png and find it good but very cumbersome and ‘mind of its own’ at 66kg. Realise the 1180 is the shiny new kid on the block but have a feeling the 1100 may be much more manageable for my weight. Love the vids 😊. Thanks

@@jonathancowcher7482 what sort of conditions and body of water? I’d say without knowing anything else that the 1180 would be the better step for you or perhaps the 1401 The 1401 is a perfect next step to the 1300 and is what I did. Give me some more info and we can discuss it.

Re next step from 1300, bay conditions, Port Philip Bay in Melbourne. Relatively shallow and frequently windy, bumps build quickly in either usual direction of SW or Northerly and tend to be relatively steep and close together. Currently doing downwinders with wing and foil drive assistance but have many years experience downwind sup and surfski paddling. 8’2 x 18 board on the way. Thanks

Hmm, i think the spitfires do suit bay style conditions. I’d say to make life easy go 1180 and to test yourself the 1100. But then also. My guess is that you will stop using the 1300 once you get a taste of the foils that are more fun. That means you might want a replacement low wind foil which is probably the 1401 I think there is room in the quiver for: 1401, covers lightest days as a session saver and then missions where you need to succeed but it is also good for cruising medium days especially if you want to save energy or your ridding tired with many days on. 1180, when things step up a bit but arnt cranking, this foil is easy and carvy especially when setup with advanced plus fuse and small rear. And fits bay run conditions 1100, I want 18+ kts for this - I’m 72-75kg - otherwise it’s a bit underpowered the other option for excellent conditions that I use is the 1030, currently this is as small as I’ve ever needed to go. It’s very surfy and handles bay run 30kts with ease. With you’re ocean experience you can likely also look into the 1201 as that will give you plenty of glide and I’d say you’ll get it up super easy with your paddling skills and that board… considering that I don’t think you’ll have any trouble with the 1030 either. Hard to say for you , but the 1180 or 1401 is a sure thing for a second dw foil coming from the 1300. I’m sorry but I really just see many foils in your future! You’ll likely end up with them all anyway, they each have a place.

Awesome videos! I have the opportunity to buy the 1100 spitfire for a decent price but I’m not sure if the 1201 would be a better fit. I weigh 75kg and getting into downwind foiling as we speak. I live in barcelona and we usually have small wind swell. Which would you recommend?

@@henning8057 thank you. Both will work fine so don’t sweat it too much. My guess is that you will eventually end up with both anyway. Both those foils are quite small though to start the dw journey, I typically suggest the biggest foil you can get you hands on. The 1401 has been a good starter for my friend Travis, I started on the png1300. Starting on a small foil will likely give you slow progress. What foil are you using currently?
