We Leave the Gold Coast and head to Roma for the first night, whilst stopping at Dalby & Chinchilla for a look, we missed the watermelon festiville. We then leave Roma and head to Lara Wetlands for the second night, during our travels we stop in at the famous Mitchell Hot-Springs to soak up some minerals before making our way to Morven & Augathella to see these old towns, then onto Tambo for a Teddy and Blackhall to check out the local history, and theres's plenty, before arriving with 15 minutes to spare 5pm at the Laura Wetlands.
Lara Wetlands is an amazing place and well worth a stop over, we then head to Barcaldine to see the tree of knowledge, I have included old photo's from 2005 before the tree was poisoned. We leave Barcaldine and head to Muttaburra and take a look at the cute town of Aramac on the way, after looking at the prehistoric history of Muttaburra we head to Winton for our third night to meet up with friends.
Winton has so much to see & do, you have to visit the Dinosaur Discovery Centre and walk the streets to take in the history of this iconic town.
We head to McKinlay to stay at the Crocodile Dundee hotel for the night after spending most of the day at the famous Blue Heeler Pub at Kynuna.
We head to Dajarra hotel for our fifth night not before calling into Cloncurry for Breakfast and viewing the Mary Kathleen Museum, well worth the visit.
We headed to the Thirsty Camel for a light refreshment in the town of Dutchess before heading to our nights accomadation behind the Dajarra Pub.
The following day was a big drive to Birdsville, we stopped in for a quick look at both Boulia & Bedourie and patronised the local establishments. We spent our 6th & 7th night in Birdsville at the Caravan Park that has great facilities. Whilst in Birdsville we had to visit Big Red, the start of the Simpson Desert, I hadn't been to Birdsville for 25 years, there were a few changes for such a small town. A new bakery although the museum that was in the hardware store was no more, and visitors were no longer allowed to visit the dingo caves.
We left Birdville to visit the Betoota Pub, this was unreal and worth the 20 minute drive off the highway, we stayed the night and then left after a hardy breakfast to Windorah for an early lunch and some more refreshments before heading to Quilpie to stay at the Lakes campground about six kilometers on the western side of town for our eighth night.
The following day we left early to make our way to Cunnamulla to visit the information centre that has an amazing museum, before heading to St George and then the famous Nindigully Pub for the 9th night.
We visit the Thallon Silo Art before heading to Goondiwindi for breakfast in the rain, we then press on to Killarney and pass through the Condimine Gorge on our way home to the Gold Coast.
I take plenty of photo's of signs, so grap your map and follow our journey.
