How rewarding to know you scouted out the spot and it has produced such finds. Can't wait to see what you found in the Quartz speci..... Best wishes as always, Deb
@rodevans6022 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! Hard work rewarded! As an old gold geologist with plenty of WA time I can tell you that it was the mineralised ‘greenstone’ which really got my juices flowing! The white shiney mineral might be arsenopyrite (smells like garlic when scratched), commonly associated with gold. The most exciting part however was the fine gold you got in the pan from just one corner. This would indicate very high grade ore in the context of a hard rock gold mine! If the ground is available for mineral tenure I strongly recommend that you get some pegs in the ground! If the area is already under EL, as I guess is likely the case, the license holders should give you a decent reward for short circuiting their exploration process. Good luck!
@OutbackGoldFever2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback Rod! After a few conversations with my mates and comments on this video I realise I'll have to go back and pick up the rock to see exactly what we're dealing with here, a few said it could be platinum 🤷🏼♀️. Pending EL.
@rodevans6022 жыл бұрын
@@OutbackGoldFever Hi Krissy… On balance I wouldn’t expect platinum to be very likely to occur in that context. Although there is nothing to preclude the occurrence of platinum deposits in the WA Yilgarn, they would be more likely in association with ultra-mafic rocks rather than mafics. The cobbles in your creek, including the mineralised one, looked very much like meta-basalts (mafics) to me. Of course I shouldn’t be too pedantic about such things without any specific local knowledge or an opportunity to crack the rocks myself! For all that, I would admit that ‘back in the day’ most gold explorationists were very gold focussed and rarely ran a platinum assay. So you never know what slipped through the net. Things were a little different in nickel mining, in ultra-mafic host rocks. Nickel sulphide concentrates commonly had minor platinum credits, and of course nickel deposits frequently occurred in the same neighbourhood as gold deposits. So…… whatever! Good luck to you; I hope it all works out to your advantage!

@@OutbackGoldFever how exciting. How much do assey cost?
@rodevans6022 жыл бұрын
@@johnramirez5032 There are many possible analytical methods depending on sample size, anticipated grade and the mineralogy of the sample. But in a case like this a regular fire assay with ICP-MS finish would do the job, to give Platinum, Paladium and Gold in the range 0.01 to 100 ppm (grams per tonne). The Australian Laboratory Services web site quotes this service at $26.30, plus preparation costs and maybe a batch fee, so for a single sample, about $45 to $50 would cover it…. In the case of Krissy’s rock I’d assay at least two pieces; one from the mineralised end and one from the ‘unmineralised’ portion, where the pinpointer didn’t react - which could still have a couple of grams/tonne, and still be ore…..
@johnramirez50322 жыл бұрын
@@rodevans602 thanks for your responce. Since most does not have visible gold your only option is an assay. At least ive heard that.

You did well Chrissy My neighbour showed me a rock he found in a creek not far from a mine. It appears to have fell from a wagon on its way to the crusher. Your piece says there is a reef up that creek somewhere. That gold is far better than the small pieces you were getting. Worthwhile persevering by digging hot rocks me thinks.

Awesome, another perfect video, it is important to point out to people just how hard and long it can be between gold bits, I always suggest to people to hire a detector and have a go before spending the big bucks on the good equipment, I luv your happy presentation and the advertising is taking of, I am about to move into or next to Pine Creek, I have also set my sleush up and have a few hundred tons of old unprocessed dirt to put through, I will split it into rubble and rocks about 2cm wide and sand to use as dirt to fill in the wash aways caused by the wet season over here, the grass has already grown to long in most places to detect easily so really detecting is out for the next four months over here in the NT, keep up the good work and have a great day. I wouldn't say "water-worn". ( 5:38 ) The nuggets get hammered smooth by other rocks as they tumble down stream. Any part that sticks up (roughness) gets hammered hardest and oftenest, so the tendency is towards smoothness. I have a 17.4g nugget (bought, not found, unfortunately) that is almost sensuous in its smoothness.
