Was the design of the boat taken from the original drawing that the shipwrecked sailor made…..or was this a blend of various dugouts that you’ve cobbled together? Hard work putting that together….was there any thought to coating the bottom with some epoxy…..for safety sake? Historical accuracy is nice, but your making it through this adventure alive trumps all other considerations I would think. Can’t wait for the real voyage to begin.

Your boas is really well though, the things I liked the most and found genius was the sliding table, and ofc the bed, what a awesome idea. Two more videos to finish with this playlist.

By now somebody must have told you that your sailing canoe sailing rig is called an “Oceanic Lateen” it is the perfect choice for your boat. It is an historic rigging used by Polynesian sailors. This includes most probably Australian and New Zealand aboriginals. It is still used today on some modern boats. Mostly in northern africa and Mediterranean fishing boats. If you add your sail to a mast it is a traditional lateen rig and it will behave better when the wind is behind you as well as work just like your doing now. Not that any one of this matters now. Its been a few years. But, its good info about your boat.
