Wow, Mike, you are truly incredible and inspiring! I have watched several of the Alone series. Your competence, determination, and resilience in the wilderness during the first Australian series of Alone is up there with the very best. Your ability to adapt and thrive in challenging circumstances was inspiring to watch. Your resourcefulness and survival skills taught us valuable lessons about perseverance and the human spirit. Your humility and genuine personality made you even more relatable and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your journey and motivating viewers around the world. You are a true champion, and I have no doubt you will achieve incredible things in the future. Keep shining, Mike! Your resilience and inspiration will forever resonate with us

You were a joy to watch. You had a very positive attitude and would take the set backs in stride. You always tried and again and kept trying different things. You never gave up. Very inspiring. Gina was very tough. I’m not sure how much longer she would have lasted if she would have cracked psychologically from the isolation or kept going. I think the starting weight difference played a large part. Thanks for the gear review. Great idea using the tarp as a vapour barrier due to the condensation in the sleeping bag. A lot of good practical advice from real experience.

If you believe she caught it haha i got a bridge to sell you. No footage of her catching anything in the show, she was delivered all her meals. As if you think she is really catching a wallaby with her bare hands when she can't even rip into a light jog by the look of her.
@cooljdl03
@cooljdl03 Жыл бұрын
@@desalage I am not sure if you have seen many seasons of the show but things often happen that are unexpected and you don't always have your camera equipment ready. For example there is one season where someone kills a wolverine with an axe that was not filmed because it happened unexpectedly. If you don't think the show is legitimate I would recomend simply not watching it. There are plenty of other things to do with your time. Just to add to this, regarding the "Cant rip into a jog" comment. she certainly came into the show fat. That was entirely intentional she said that she put on 19kg in two months. That level of commitment is what it takes to win.

@@charliebournewhole8923 I was so disappointed for Mike when he was pulled out. However when I saw him from the back, he looked like he was a Japanese PoW or an inmate of Belsen. I stopped questioning the decision when I saw how malnourished he was. He couldn’t have outlasted Gina, given she had another 10 - 14 days of food. I was really happy Gina won, but I really wished Mike could have caught some red meat. It would have been a much more interesting contest if all the contestants had much chances of catching food.

Excellent Mike. You answered a lot of my questions from the gear episode. Here’s a tidbit for you. Leatherman have a great returns policy, at least I hope they still do. If your Leatherman breaks you send it back and they either repair or send a new one. No receipt required! No proof of purchase either. Just pop it in an envelope with your return address and send it. Don’t think I’m able to put a link here so google their address in Oz. I have done this twice and they simply gave me a new model each time if the old model is superseded. Pity about the sleeping bag. I guess you didn’t have time to test it out first. If you get another go at Alone you’ll have that sorted, a nice GoreTex down with X-Long size, the down shouldn’t get wet if the bag is waterproof and breathable. I have a -14º mummy type bag for ski touring and the down doesn’t seem to compress too much on the bottom. They have lots of baffles these days. It is not goretex but I use a goretex bivvy bag if it looks like a wet ski late in the season.

@@andrewrules231 The Australia producers deliberately chose mostly "regular" people so it was more relatable. Not a good choice on their part but hopefully they learned from it, also harder to compare since we have more restrictions on our native animals because we've almost wiped them out already

@@wildlinesau well all im saying is that at 20c in the winter its not exactly a hard time "surviving" in the wilderness. the contestants are about 5km apart meanwhile in canada they travel 10km from camp to look for food in -20 and thats not bad by canadian standards. plus iv met alot of ausies that come to canada to live for a few years and they all couldnt get over how dangerous it is to walk through a park in the middle of town compaired to austraillia. I currently live in edmonton a city with a pop of about a million and we have cyotes out side our place all year. my wifes aunt took pictures of a cougar going through the dumpster of the vancouver childrens hospital. you guys got it easy
@wildlinesau
@wildlinesau Жыл бұрын
@@andrewrules231 Yeah, the show sets the distance rules not the contestants and most Aussies have never been in wilderness. We don't have land predators, but the show picked a location that was survivable too. Most of Australia's land mass is subject to extreme temps and little water where exposure is our biggest risk. It's not a competition mate, Canada and the USA have a long history of protecting wild places and you've got incredible places, animals and geography to explore and test yourselves against because of that, just go enjoy it

When i saw you were being pulled out I was yelling at the TV " he deserves at least one more week, it can't finish like this" you were still up and about and actively trying to get food. The one thing I picked up on early in the piece is it felt like Gina was bending and flexing with nature and you were maybe trying to push against it like most blokes would. Gina's shelter was better than yours but everything else you had her covered. Loved your chair, table and elevated sleeping platform. Not saying this in a bad way but she probably had that just slightly crazy edge that helped her get through, full credit to her. You weren't doing the platypus dance. Fantastic effort, from the very first episode I thought this blokes got it. All the best in the future.

You could save one item by not have a separate ferro rod take that spot even though functionality might be less. My list is similar except for a bow instead of that ferro rod and a shovel instead of an extra tarp.

Top bloody effort mate. Super entertaining, and absolutely devo'd for you you got pulled, especailly seeings you didn't get to use your new tarp net! Question: the bank line? You said you used it for a trip wire on your original netting... was this an optional item or a gifted one? (It wasn't on your list). ALso, I vaguely recall you saying in one of your recaps that you misweighed your allowance items and had to shed your snare wire (for trip lines). If you still had the other gauge wire, why did you use the bank line instead? Not a criticism, just curious, I have no clue!
@OutbackMike

The thicker wire seemed to thick, and that it might deter it being triggered. It worked later when I tried it so I stuck with it.

Well Played Mikey. I won my bet, the game played out almost as I read the players. You have my respect and I admire your determination and ingenuity. I must admit I felt for ya when they pulled you from the game, I understand that feeling when a decision is made for you contrary to your convictions, a rather unpleasant pock in the feels. But I have know doubt you will make good in future adventures. Best wishes to you and your family. Are you able to list the 40 items? An Old saying "salt is life" in hindsight, do you think your game would have been different had you taken salt ??

Nice break down of the gear with pros and cons. Two questions: You mention staying in a rented recovery house. Was this arranged by the production or did you rent and pay for this yourself? And second question was you mentioned using bank line as a trip line but I didn't see this in your gear, only paracord. So did you take black bank line as well or was it in your gear (thread) or what?

Yes, we're all wondering the same thing. Those creatures are very sensitive and skittish and there is absolutely no way it would have waited around for a noisy creature (that woman) to come that close to it, let alone be grabbed with her bare hands. Sounds like a PC win to me (and other friends of ours).

Never. Look at Videos of People trying to catch one of them. 3 Man in Daylight had no chance. But she was next to it, with a flashlight, in the night, on moody Ground, already weak and slow??? How did she have the Sound on and right after she filmed herself. Jet no footage of the catch? How lucky she also had a Preaty Dumb and drie sounding peace of Wood to smash it. jet no damage was seen on the Wallaby. This was 100% Fake, they needed a Woman to win at least once in 10 Seasons. But then he still kept going so they had to take him out. Notice how you do not even see once how she catcht the Fish? she always was standing in the Shot, with the Fish allready in here Hands, screaming "i got one i got one".

I disagree. Mike was very inventive but also seemed to be so angry a lot of the time. I never saw him smile or relax and enjoy the ride. I thought he was going to throw a tantie at the medic who pulled him out, and on the after-show he just seemed to be peeved the whole time, maybe because he was beaten by a "hippy" woman who appeared to be taking the experience a lot easier, and who seemed to get more luck in terms of catching fish, animals etc. At least she was a lot more cheerful and entertaining!
