Loved your showing on Alone Mike, ingenuity + outlook + grit, I'm hoping they make some kind of all-star season with popular and interesting competitors from the shows history and bring you onto it 🤩

Please avoid spoilers in the comments. Many people haven’t seen the whole series yet. I don’t mean to be rude but I’m going to remove any comments like that for the sake of those that haven’t seen the whole series.

Good man, thanks for being such a great teacher, and sharing your experience. I hope your channel blows up like Fowlers, and Clay. Much love.

Very inspirational content Mike. As I"m a veteran myself I really appreciate how well ur whole approach to ur situation was well conducted. You are obviously well practiced in survival skills in the Australian environment which was paramount in your ability to survive for so long. Very entertaining KZbin content mate.

Did enjoy it Mike ,but if I was doing that I would definitely take a midge net or larger net to move about the camp in ,

Can feel the financial outlay pain anticipating 250k, like sport. Channel Suggestion - This show has provided a leg-up spotlight for your channel. Perhaps employ a marketing agent to arrange sponsorship from camping/fishing, 4x4, etc, business’s. Catch-up with other contestants individually (one-to-one) for a camping weekend in their favourite local spot. Discuss their 10 items, before-during-after show thoughts, etc. Maybe some film students will help out with production & editing (unless SBS, Netflix , etc interest)

Thanks for this. I love the fact that these items (unlike those featured on Alone US) are accessible for me. I really look forward to your after-show review, going there now, and I might have to make some purchases of my own. I live here in Tasmania and I've wanted to move out west for a while now. The show really displayed the beauty that can be found there. Of course, the beauty is best appreciated in smaller, more voluntary trips 😄

Mike you were a legend out there mate, i rekon you had more in ya and i could tell you would have argued it with the doc if you thought it would get you anywhere, you would have got 90. Loved the rod, the kayak, your traps were next level - the bastards were too cunning but the ingenuity you showed was outstanding. Great watch and great work 🇳🇿🇦🇺

Super spoilers in the comments! Don't read if you haven't watched the show yet! Thanks for the gear review. That extra tarp is a good size for all your project ideas. I like how you have multi-purposes for so many items, eg the colourful paracord on the fire steel is clever.

Good breakdown on the items.. As for Tassie, if anyone put more then 20 minutes thought into it, knowing the production wasnt gonna goto a desert... Tasmania is literally the only place they were able to go. Vic high country is possible due to the snow to create drama.. but theres so many 4x4 tracks, human interaction is high. So yeah Tasmania was ofcourse the only place possible to go.

Hey mate. I was wondering if you read these comments often if I could pick your brain about the applications for alone and what you put down to stand out. I'm currently applying but am looking for a edge to stand out a little bit

Gday Mike, could you take a swag for a sleeping bag?? Also was the leatherman the only knife you took?? Would you skin and roo and gut a fish with a leatherman?? Cheers, you did a fantastic job. I don't wana say to much on show.

Thanks. You can’t take a swag. The only other blade I hade was the axe. You can dress a large animal no worries with a leatherman.

Awesome set up. Makes me think it would be cool for future seasons that everyone gets the exact same 10 items. Reduce that as a variable in the comp.

No water filter? A Sawyer squeeze instead of that wire for me. A ton of time and effort saved boiling water. It can be done on the move. Meh, these bushcraft types never seem to use them, I'm still not sure why.
@davidkov6750
@davidkov6750 Жыл бұрын
The water is usually ice cold or straight up ice, you have to warm it up regardless cause it helps you stay warm instead of cold. Filter only saves time, but you have all the time in the world out there. Convenience is the least of your concern. A wire is so versatile for lashings, construction, making a fishing rod, extra hooks, snares (not in this case) and traps, hanging a pot over fire or things up to dry, trip wire to alert you of animals and doing all kinds of repairs. Sky's the limit, you just need skill and creativity ! That being said, the filter is amazing for simple hiking, but not for long term survival with a permanent camp where every item counts.

Hey mike, I’ve been trying to find a list of potential items that can be included in this set. Is it just anything with a few limitations? Or is it like 100 allowed items and you can only choose 10? Thanks

just curious why you picked a axe over a good knife, with a knife you can do everything an axe can as well plus more.
@OutbackMike
@OutbackMike Жыл бұрын
It’s much harder to cut down a big tree with a knife. The axe was sort of like a big knife. Obviously not as good in some situations but a reasonable substitute.
