Can I use on any outboard? I have a Suzuki DF60. I’m worried about drilling it. Also would I have to paint the holes to stop corrosion?

Yes this can definitely be used on your Suzuki Outboard. Nothing is required further once the holes are drilled. The leg is made of cast alloy and the bolts used to secure the hydrofoil are 304 stainless steel, so no need to worry. If you're still unsure of installing it yourself, you could look into getting your local outboard mechanic to install it as they've most likely got a lot of experience doing this. Hope this helps

Hi John, the 400 works as a clamp style fitting that clamps onto the cavitation plate. No other hardware or drilling is required.

We would suggest the SE Sport 300 if it’s an Evinrude Etc. These motors do have a bigger leg and will definitely support the bigger model!

They work by lifting the boat out of the water as the boat gathers speed, creating less drag. This helps to increase acceleration, giving you more power and reduced strain on the engine. You will also notice an increase in speed!

Hi Alex, SE Sport recommend 8hp and above with these Hydrofoils however most manufactures have the same fiscal motor size in a 6-8hp so it depends. Best to check with the manufacture of the motor.

In physics there is something called Bernoulli’s equation. This basically says in a fluid the sum of pressure, potential, and kinetic energy at every point must be equal. The hydrofoil basically accelerates the fluid above the plate therefore reducing the pressure above it. This causes the pressure below the plate to be greater than the pressure above so the plate gets “lifted” up. Basically an airplane wing but in water.

In most cases these hydrofoils have not caused any warranty issues with outboard manufactures but, as always, to be on the safe side we suggest you contact your outboard dealer or manufacturer to get a definitive answer
