Quest i already have 2 buzzers 1 for each inboard. I want to wire a warning 12v led to the 2 terminal buzzer. It has 12v across both term. key off when turned on buzzer sound and oil pressure switch activates the buzzer until started then turn to ground on 1 term.. I wired the light between the 2 term and works great. Should i use a diode or inline fuse for 1 side of the 2 term buzzer? These are tiny leds.

Thank you for the good instructional video. I do have a question that I think you may be able to help me with. After watching your video, I think my issue is the temperature sensor itself. But here’s what’s going on… When I turn my boat over for the very first time, the buzzer immediately starts going off as if I have low oil, pressure or over temp. I’ve ruled out it being low oil because my reservoir is topped off and it’s using it. I feel like I have Rudolph the boat overheating because from a cold start it immediately turns on the buzzer. So wouldn’t that be that little thermometer bulb with the two wire leads?

You could try wiring connectors directly to the buzzer and testing it. I have not had a motor with an oil sensor but it must be similar. If its ringing its probably shorting out somewhere. Also obviously make sure your boat is sucking in water and being cooled.

I have a 99 Johnson J115PLEEM and the buzzer keeps going off, even when cold start. Just stays on, constant beep. Thoughts?

Is there anyway of hooking a temperature Gauge to the sensor? I hate not knowing the temperature while I'm running the engine.. By the way, I have a Honda bf130hp. Thanks..

Many of the old engines do not have one. Only an overheat warning. You'd have to make one using Arduino it would be fairly easy.

You can buy a temp sensor that comes with a gauge and a sensor. That new sensor will mount somewhere else on the engine.

I was thinking where the cap at .35 in the video to thread a sending unit in at that point. Or at least an adapter to screw a sending unit in.

Does this temperature switch contact the cooling water or does it contact the engine block ?
@cenkaetaya

Its kinda right there near the water and center of engine block, hard to say exactly.

So. If my temp sensor goes off after 5 mins how can I diagnose if its not working. Obviously checked all cooling system. Does magnet in sensor go bad? Would the ground wire be damaged?

Well is water coming out of it when it's on?

@Hello Everyone yes yes all the obvious stuff. Basically I would like to know the internal workings of the sensor. I.e. do magnets fail? Get swollen and keep inside permanently grounded

When I turn my key to on the buzzer is in constant alarm. There was no grounding wire on the buzzer as your provided diagram shows and I am worried my accessory wire and temp sensor wire are installed backwards. If they were, would this cause the constant alarm?

I realize this video is several years old, but hoping someone can suggest a fix for a warning alarm issue I am dealing with. The issue is the volume on the buzzer is very low for one engine and normal volume for the other side. Apparently both engines are connected to the same alarm/buzzer. The volume is so low I cannot hear it when the console is closed. The alarm volume is also low anytime the key is put in the ON position so it's not only at overheat. I have tried researching this issue online with no luck. I'm thinking of swapping out the ignitions as the alarm is part of this. Thanks in advance for any help. TWIN YAMAHA F225.

I would try swapping out the buzzer first just to test it it could just have gone bad or corroded inside.

I suspect I have a bad sensor since my 40 HP evinrude gives me the horn after a short period of operating at high RPMs. I disconnected this sensor and I still got the horn at high RPMs. Is there a common miswiring that would cause this or something else?
@cenkaetaya
@cenkaetaya 5 жыл бұрын
Are you sure you disconnected the correct sensor as it sounds like you have a bad thermostat. When's the engine heats up it's not able to cool correctly because the thermostat is not opening up causing the heat alarm. there's only one wire going to the sensor if you ground out the sensor it'll beep.

...you might want to trace the tan/brown wire through the engine and back to the control box. If the insulation chafes and makes contact with the metal of the engine or other ground wires the buzzer will sound. Look carefully at where the cable bundle exits the engine. Jiggle wires while the buzzer is going, if it quits you know you are in the right area. Good luck.
