OUTBOARD NOT STARTING? - Try These Two Simple Things FIRST!

These are two things that every boater should remember to check when/if their outboard won't start! I've had several calls from customers (and even my own parents) who are out on the water and they can't get their motor to start. Maybe one of the kiddos pull the safety lanyard off the switch. Or maybe the shift/throttle control got bumped out of neutral. It happens, and you should know what to check FIRST before getting all worked up or calling a mechanic. Hopefully it's one of these simple things that gets your motor started so you can enjoy your day on the water!

Hi Tom, great info mate, these newer motors have a few more in built safety mechanisms, and unfortunately many people don't read the manuals, and often don't have much or any boating experience. So they panic like u said, and often more issues evolve from that. Thanks for sharing 😁🇦🇺🌈

so true! and they just passed a law in our state that motors MUST have a lanyard. If we save one person a headache or ruined day then it's worth sharing!
