(OUTDATED) The History of Showbiz Pizza Place and Chuck E. Cheese in Asheville, North Carolina

This was my dad's childhood location! It was one of the few arcades from what I hear. He went there throughout 1987-1989. Unfortunately we have no photos or videos as cameras were expensive back then. He also said that the stage wss on the left side of the store which lines up with the typical Showbiz layout.

Ive got some old photos from my birthday party when i turned 2. They are photos from the inside of the Showbiz in Asheville. We lived right up the street from it. Some of my earliest memories I can recall are from being in that Showbiz.

Can you do a history on my local Raleigh Chuck E. Cheese in the future? Their pizza time theatre was the 20th store to open and also had a showbiz pizza that opened in 1988.

I saw a photo that said it's from two weeks ago that shows them, and another from two years ago after they were supposed to be removed. Just interested because I'm pretty sure those aren't in most locations anymore. Also have they gotten 2.0 yet? I'm assuming no because no photos of the place I can find show it having it.

There’s another NC store that has Phase 3 aka Hickoryville although I’m not sure if they have 2.0 yet

I believe you mean Hickory, and it got 2.0 at least a few months ago from what I can tell. I actually visited the location a few weeks back to see what 2.0 looked like in person.

LATE RESPONSE! sorry! i was just going to the next cec history video's location! anyway, the river hills location movie sign thing with the "showbiz and me" with the custom location isnt exclusive to that location. i believe it was in every location that had a phase 3 or probably just in a few locations. sorry for the late response! i really wanted to chat in the premiere! EDIT: the river hills isnt getting 2.0 soon since its a small location.

That would make sense, as yeah, it's a smaller location and It'd be hard to imagine it as a 2.0 with the way the building is designed. Thanks for the info!

This is my local and I really hate that. You see, the store itself is extremely small, like all the games, the rides, the stage, all the tables and even the food ordering and prize area are in the same room, and they mostly just have generic games, they don't have any "Chuck E." games like Chuck E.'s Duckies or stuff like that, also, the variety of prizes they offer is kinda mediocre, as they barely have any interesting Chuck E. merch, and probably the worst thing by far, they have a stupid Studio C Cappa that for obvious reasons doesn't do anything at all, like having the bot is literally useless, I wouldn't give a care if they 2.0.

The art is what matters at this store though. The exterior is still the major 90’s one, and their art largely consists of mid to late 90’s pieces, which is why I find this store kinda cool despite the other aspects being weaker. You’re saying you don’t like the older art at all at CEC’s?

Actually I’m over an hour away from the current location in Asheville. It just so happens to be the closest one to me though since I kinda live farther away from CEC locations and don’t have a true “local” location where I live.
