[Outdated] Underpowered And Overpowered Traps (Roblox Deathrun)

Roblox Deathrun has tons of different traps layed out in its sprawling levels. Some are really good while others are lacking in usefulness beyond wasting time. So today, I'm gonna be looking at 5 traps that stand out in each end of the spectrum.
Oh man, this was nails to make. Gathering footage was a pain in the ass because the traps wouldn't play out the way I wanted them to half the time and the fact that Premiere Pro 19 hates me. I kinda wanted to get this over and done with so I can get started on the Q&A responses, which I'm excited for.
So anyway, here is my first true Roblox video of the new decade. Hope you enjoy.

Thank you for putting together this list! It's very insightful to get your perspective on what is seen as over- and underpowered. Especially since I've been breaking my head over scripting and maintaining 150+ traps in the most recent installment of the game alone, I often tend to check one off and forget about it once it works, only revisiting them if the community brings up that they need to be rebalanced. We've rebalanced some obvious offenders like Training Course's last trap in our dev environment and will continue to do so with future updates. Hopefully making the game a bit more fair while still having a good balance of overpowered and underpowered traps. As long as the community enjoys them and I can get a laugh or two from videos like this and seeing players rant about a trap in-game, I know the game that became way too popular for what it is and was never designed to be accesible for players of all skill levels is enjoyed by most :D

Here is a bug/exploit that I have seen before. If you put your flag down when the round begins, you get a head start which will skip the first trap. The main downside for the bug is, you cannot collect anything.

My list: Underpowered: 5. The sinking platforms in Pirate Cove There is like just one platform needed to cross and its very easy to bait the killer or just cross 4. The raining skeleton fish in Jurassic Volcano The area it covers is too small and the fish rain has a small delay 3. The platform roundabout in Surface escape It goes only on one side but its #3 cuz the parkour is kinda hard for some people. 2. The moving laser wall in Galactic Terminal. It would be super overpowered if the stone platform didn't exist 1. The last trap in Safety First Just go behind the truck! Overpowered: 5. The dynamite in Ancient Jungle It explodes instantly after it is activated 4. The wind trap in Surface Escape There is wind even at the STARTING OF THE TRAP 3. The falling log in Training Course It has very big hitboxes and rolls down fast 2. The 2nd trap in Castle Defense You gotta cross THREE platforms together 1: The last trap in Jurassic Volcano It covers The ENTIRE area and fills up super fast.

And also what about the traps that wall you in and drop bombs, you can just avoid the bombs and you will be fine and most likely win the round because they are at the end

This helped me with being a runner AND a killer because I always hold back on the Poisoned Sky Ruins lazer shoot bullets and I get killed by the hand (I think they should srsly remove it)

IMO the hand is actually useful because it prevents runners from taking to long and ending up with all the ghosts getting to the end by the time the runner dies, resulting in them getting little to no loot and xp compared to the ghosts who had all the time in the world

I personally think that the most overpowered trap, is that trap in ancient jungle where the rocks fall off the mountain. I’ve played roblox deathrun for 3 years, and I’ve never been able to get past it.

On the new map on Goo'y Gameshow, there's a trap which is super overpowered. It's like a wrecking ball but it's over a checkpoint. If you go pass the checkpoint, the wrecking ball will just destroy most people that could get that far unless if you already know it and trick the killer to making them think you went and they will click the button.

I think the barrels in castle defense should be mentioned unlike almost every trap they spawn instantly and the cooldown is alright icwas recently the killer and there were 4 people left I killed 3 of them just from that one trap because of the cooldown and instantly spawning the other player just made it out alive because of the safe spots

underpowered: 5 castle defense trap with barrels. you can just go to the middle checkpoint. 4 sinking platforms in pirate cove you can jump to the middle quickly 3 surface escape wind because there are two checkpoints to stop at 2 the small moving laser wall in galactic terminal because there is a stone 1 the spinners you can easily jump over them or pretend you're going to inside of training course overpowered: 5 the last trap in training course because it is hard to escape 4 the log in training course pretty easy because i always just throw the gallons of water but dangerous still 3 big laser moving thingy in training course 2 2nd castle defense trap because it shoots the cannons quickly 1 training course first trap because if you're an average killer you can get at least 4 ppl

Tip for log on training course: wait for a ghost to go ahead and then go. The ghost will bump 8nto the log which slows down the log for you to survive

I think you forgot the rotating laser in Galactic terminal. (5th trap) That thing is USELESS. If you stay close to the laser behind you and the killer activates the trap, simply run the other way and the so called ‘fast lasers’ can’t catch up because of the bad distance they travel when activated. You don’t even need the safe spots... because everywhere is safe if you’re good enough.

IMO what should be in the Honorable Mentions: The spinner trap in Galactic Terminal due to the area’s size and speed of reversal There was that one segment that used to be a trap in Safety First but it was removed, but I still think it deserves a mention That Poisoned Sky Ruins trap before the last trap would probably even be here if it weren’t for that shortage of range Training Course’s swinging box trap due to the fact that it can reach a little bit beyond its intended range. aand.. every explosives trap in Deathrun. It’s decent when it comes to radius; it all comes down to how the killer times it. Edit: I have suggestions to improve the traps in this list: 5. reposition the turrets so they can target people on the drawbridge 4. increase the swing force and duration 3. easily fixed, increase the hitbox a bit so that spot can be covered too 2. shrink the corridor. 1. make the trap activate from two sides.

My opinions of the traps you mentioned: 5 Underpowered (Laser Turrets in Poison Sky Ruins): This is very weak. I legitimately haven’t died to these and haven’t seen anybody die to this, I might never will either. 5 Overpowered (Waves in Seasonal Island): I never seen anybody use this one, however it looks like a powerful trap. 4 Underpowered (Spinners in Training Course) Same as the laser turrets. 4 Overpowered ( Plantforms in Training Course and it’s clones): This is a very hard trap to avoid. All 3 of these are the same with different designs. These are all challenging to survive. I seen people end runs with all 3. So they are all powerful in there own right. 3 Underpowered (The Statue from Training Course): I used the exploit, so this is laughable. The reason it can be useful is for anybody else I seen. Barely any of them go to the edge to walk around the flames for some reason. Either way, this is terrible at killing 3 Overpowered (Sharks in Isla Louca): These are honestly easy. I just take my time when these are around. I do see why people fear this though because of its area, but it isn’t very threatening to me. :/ 2 Underpowered (Missiles in Galactic Terminal): I’m bad at this level admittedly, but I agree that this trap is still bad. Heres my Underpowerd traps and Overpowered traps in my opinion Underpowerd 5th: Gooy Game Show last trap: I hate this trap, this trap does trip you, and waste your time, I have never died to this trap. Overpowered 5th: Castle Defense Barrels Trap: if the runner is at the spawn, the killer can kill a runner with a timer goes on, so yeah, a good killer can possibly waste runners time. Underpowerd 4th: Traning Course Spinners: these are very weak, and can easily past it, they trip you. Overpowered 4th: Pirate Cove Waves: theres 2 of them, and short time, and you can kill runners if their not fast enough, past the timer for the waves. Underpowerd 3rd: Ice Cavern Spikes: you can easily past them, their laughable, and you might get lucky to survive. Overpowered 3rd: Ancient Jungle Cliff: You need to walk really far, and a good killer can easily waste runners time. Underpowered 2nd: Platforms on Surface Escape: If you go left, your done, if you go right, and being good at obbys, this trap is easily escapable. Overpowered 2nd: Surface Escape Wind Trap: The runners might get confused, but only if its the first time going to this trap, and you need to walk far, before the killer activities it, the killer might get confused. Underpowered 1st: Galactic Terminal Laser Wall Trap: This Trap is easily escapable, and the laser wall is slow, and theres a platform, this trap would've been better if it doesn't have a platform. Overpowered 1st: Ancient Jungle Flood Trap: the flood js very fast, and a good killer can easily get a wipe out, and waste runners time.

What about that one trap in the jungle place (I forgot its name dont sue me pls) where there is that rope where you just cage people which kills them. (The 4th trap, or the trap right after the 1st checkpoint if you dont know what I mean) that trap is easily avoidable. Its hitbox is too small and its ability to bait it is very easy. I barely see anyone die from it. The only reason I'd say it's actually decent is if I just dont activate it. It gives the hand more time to catch up to them
