Aluminum vs Aluminium (9:30): _Aluminum_ was coined in 1808. _Aluminium_ was proposed in 1812 to be consistent with the scientific practice of ending metals with "-ium" (helium, lithium, potassium, radium, etc), though there are other metals that use "-um" (platinum, molybdenum, etc). Most of the world adopted the "-ium" spelling but the USA and Canada stuck with the original, except within the scientific community, which tends to favor the newer version in publications. Watching you prepare that meal made me really hungry. Have you seen the Solo? You never need to fan the flames and it burns very clean so less soot. We have the same aesthetics and similar cook kit. I definitely will trade the extra weight to cook in my mini cast iron wok as a treat. My accidental but indispensable tool is a nice pair of chopsticks. They stir my coffee, turn over bacon and replace a fork when I like

@nantahalawildman6345
@nantahalawildman6345 5 жыл бұрын
@@MBhurt no offense, but quality gear, that will last a lifetime, is expensive. Doesn't mean you can't get out in the woods with much cheaper gear, that is comparable and will last a few years at least. It's not a rich man's game (although it is a substantial investment to get basic gear)

Excellent video. Like you I've also got a tipi, but most of the time, I'm in the field I'm on foot, so the weight of the gear is critical. Really nice. I am putting together a cooking kit or couple of them but my choices of pan wears are titanium. I still do not have a titanium bottle like the nalgene one but have a keith canteen kit ,several pots of several sizes a little grill then a frying pan, got titanium plate too but I always try to minimize what I take depending what I am planning to do. Most trips I only use dehydrated meals so a single pot to boil water would do. I have not used any of the titanium stuff in fire directly just yet except the keith canteen cup which out it on top of a gas stove it changed the metal color to multi hue colors and what looks like an awful burnt blue mark and I expended hours cleaning the sticked rice on the inside as titanium conducts heat really fast and effectively and should have watched more carefully. I am learning still. I have a mini wood stove like yours but also in titanium. sometimes I think on the Stanley steel pots and pans and heavy skillets but they are not really practical for backpacking. Even canoeing! the more weight efficient with light stuff also the more crap we can bring which sometimes will end up not using half of it but they would be there! LOL!
