Bushcraft Winter Overnight trip - poncho shelter camping in wet windy weather, off grid, deep forest

Winter bushcraft trip camping in wet windy conditions with my small rain poncho for a shelter. It always amuses me that this tiny poncho is enough to keep me dry when hiking or using it as a make shift shelter. That thing has been put to use so many times as a last minute shelter resort, when forgetting time and getting surprised by nightfall while wilderness painting, or even while getting lost in deep woods once or twice. When that happens I prefer not to hike in the darkness. I broke my ankle once and It was a painful slow recovery. Instead of taking unnecessary risks like tripping on something while night hiking, I usually just set up the shelter and crash for the night. I always carry it in my pack, beats having to build a proper emergency shelter any day, which takes a lot of time, effort, resources and chasing daylight. Tonight I'm cooking meat wrapped in cheese and bacon. Always a decadent delight.
