if you are going to pull through all the way you need to pull up perpendicular so you don't blow your tips off. Best results, pull through but stop mid-belt at the tip as the tip hits the center of the belt, stop, then go again. This will keep your points.

Looks like it has been about two years since your last video. I just bought this sharpener and fortunately have found your channel. I’m the cook in our home and I love to camp and bushcraft. You have videos on all the edges I use! Very nice videos and thank you so much for the work that goes into making these.

These are brilliant, can’t use a stone , never really learnt. This thing is the nuts , done all my knives and they are as sharp as you would want , cutting paper to ribbons 👍🏻

how do you avoid rounding out the tip? The points of my knives always turns out rounded with this thing and i have to grind them back into a point.

Pull the knife straight out. When you get close to the tip release the power button.

What's "Outdoor" about this?
@WorkSharpEasy10 жыл бұрын
"Outdoor" knives would be hunting knives, pocket knives, tactical knives, military knives, etc. They generally have a wider profile than kitchen knives, because they are used with greater force and with harder materials (like cutting through hide or wood) so they need a greater shoulder strength to hold up to the task. Kitchen knives and fillet knives generally have a narrower profile, in the range of 16 to 20 degrees from center. The narrower profile means they can be made a bit sharper than outdoor knives, but they don't have the shoulder strength to hold up to tougher jobs. So kitchen knives and fillet knives are used for meats, vegetables and fruit, but not for skinning game or whittling wood, for example. Outdoor knives generally have a profile between 22.5 and 30 degrees from center, 25 degrees being most common.

A bit more clarification: So the reason they're called "Outdoor" knives is because they're generally used outdoors. Kitchen knives have a different profile and so are sharpened with a different angle guide, and they generally aren't used outdoors. So we have a separate section in the User Guide for them, and separate videos. Simple!
