@@fixitwithjake I was looking at the driveway alert units but this seems more made for yard security, can you adjust the volume? I need it loud enough to wake me up?

The little speaker hub that you can pair to it is medium audio level. But there are a bunch of different tones to pick from and you can also have it speak a sentence over and over until you wake up. I would say you would have to have a speaker hub next to your bed for it to wake you up. If it’s in the kitchen you’re not gonna hear it. Also it integrates well with Alexa so you can crank up your Alexa very loud and have it send a warning or a voice speech to your Alexa waking you up. I think that would be your best bet. But like you said there are other driveway chimes that are designed just for the tass you’re looking for. And while those cost a bit more they may be more reliable for just a vehicle crossing a specific area. But I am very impressed about what these little motion detectors can do outside.

It has been two years since I installed these. I’m happy to report. All four of them are working still with no issues. They’re even in the direct sun with without any plastic cracking. Also I still have not replaced the batteries and it’s been two years. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

Great video straight to the point. I’m looking at these to install on an industrial site with moving cars and trucks up the entrance to the yard along a lane. I currently installed 3x Texecom TD-W external PIR sensors which so far are excellent for human detection but do not reliably trigger each time for passing vehicles although I’ve yet to adjust the sensitivity and pulse count from the defaults. I’m wondering if these YoLink motion detectors paired with the wireless base will work better. Like the Texecom ones they seem to be rare in the sense that they use an app and can alert with a loud alarm tone which is what the customer wants if an intruder comes along throughout the night or during the day when the yard is not occupied. Most seem to rely on a GSM dialler with 2G or 3G but my concern with that is in the UK we’re looking at the PSTN network being closed down by 2025 and I don’t particular see why we should have to subscribe to a mobile sim plan when there is already a reliable 4G modem and WiFi router on site that installed using the brands from Mikrotik and Netgear

Yes. That is what I do. You can also have Alexa or Google speaker announce whatever you want throughout the home when motion is detected. For example “Front driveway Motion”

Is there any competitors with a similar product that contains smart home integration? I can only find ‘driveway alarms’ but from what I can see those lack an app UI. They seem to just have a base station that chimes.

Vincent, not that I have come across. There are some commercial grade items but they are $300+ Each and don’t have easy integration. I think YoLink is going to hit it out of the park with their performance and pricing AND integration. I’ve been playing with a few sensors on my front lawn, to trigger outdoor/landscape lights in the middle of the night if you walk up to my house. The options on how to use these are endless. Anytime someone walks up my driveway it announces it on all Alexa’s in our house. So you get a heads up or know the mail person came by. I agree. YoLink does a great job. There’s nothing else on the market that is battery operated and talks back to a hub to give you a notification anywhere in the world. Or if there is, I have not come across it. Usually they are hard wired and very expensive for only companies to afford.

It’s on my to do list, to make a video about how to program and integrate all the centers in a straightforward fashion. It’s really quite simple to set up a YoLink system and get notifications on your phone. It’s a little bit more complex if you want to turn it into an alarm system or trigger Amazon Alexa or Google home. But def not advanced level. More moderate level.

Your have to move the speed of a turtle or snail to get past a PIR. One sneeze or trip and the PIR will sense you. These sensors are so good that people won’t even know they are there to go that slow. Good luck!! :)

I haven’t made any progress. Got side tracked with some other ideas. But the concept is, when motion is detected, you can tell a PTZ camera to point towards the action. Then once the action is gone or a period of time it will spin back to the home position. OR, a motion trigger can time stamp or trigger your video recordings so you can go back and check them more easily (with less false triggers) then normal video motion capture. My motion detectors are all installed and running great. I need to buy a few more to experiment with bc the ones out on the field are busy and I don’t want to adjust what is workout so well.

No, all of these systems are proprietary. So they only work with their own ecosystem. Just like eufy.

It does not have an internal alarm. It can be paired with a small siren, both indoor or outdoor. Both sirens are extremely loud. Both sirens can be powered via battery or plug into the wall. The indoor siren is around $25 the outdoor sirens around $35. You can also link it up to flash your lights, turn things on, etc. I have mine to trigger Amazon Alexa to notify me when there’s motion in those areas. And via voice, it will announce it in the house. For example, “motion detected at top of the property”.

Thank you, Warren. You could probably use a yolink vibration sensor that is scheduled to only operate from say 8pm to 8am, paired with an outdoor battery pack siren nearby, or just sent notice to your phone and turn on a light in your bedroom with alexa integration. I'd put the sensor inside your car and set to high so it will pick up the start of someone touching your car. Will surely sense the first few seconds of the hack saw they use. When siren goes off, they will stop and not have gotten very far. But it also looks like they have similar systems people are already building that won't alarm you but will set off a local siren. If I was you, I'd put a giant placard on the cat to warn them there is an alarm and hopefully they move on to the next car!

Correct, it will send the notice to the hub inside your house. The hub will then send the notice over the internet to your phone. That way the sensor will have long battery life.

Yes. We have bear, deer and mountain lions here. They all set off the sensor reliably. Much better then camera motion sensing. I use one to check for animals. When I see it go off I go back to the security cameras to see it.

On the details page you can choose the time it takes to reset itself. The default is only 1 minute so try a higher time.

I need something that I can point at my handicap van to alert if a human (at night) is attempting to break in or steal my handicap van. I'm the only human who should be in my driveway. During the day, only my lawn care man and the bug spray guy (once a month on each) should be in my driveway. Would this work well at night? I'd attach it to my privacy fence, aiming it at my van. It's a sad, sad world when a thief tries to steal a handicap van from a disabled veteran! I'm the veteran and that was my "happy veteran's day gift from a dumb thug!" He was dumb because he didn't wear gloves and he was picked up by a fingerprint match! My van is too tall to fit in my garage. Is the outdoor alarm loud enough to alert me (in house) and several neighbors outside? I was going to buy two sensors and have one on each side of my driveway. Thank you.

Yes, this would work great for that. But small animals such as racoon might also set it off. So I would mount and point it a bit higher then they walk. And put it on the low setting. Buy the outdoor siren and it will be very loud. Id spray it with 303 UV protectant every 6 months bc the plastic gets baked in direct sun. Works awesome on the plastic for boats and my pool equipment. Prevents fading and cracking. It would be better to install anything like this under an eve or tree to get out of the tough sun.

Do dogs set off the alarm? I want to put one in my backyard, but I don't want to be alerted every time my dog needs to go outside. Also, is an Alexa required in order to get notified? I would like to only use my phone if that's possible.

Yes, I think a dog would set it off if they move past the defection angle. With that said, you can easily mount it higher and point to the height of a human to avoid the dogs below. Alexa not required. Notifications on the phone is the primary way. Alexa I’d an add on. They also have they own little Alexa looking device that works great with no internet to call out alerts. Look up their speaker hub if u need one.

Internet is not required unless you want to be notified away from your home. It will work on a local network and even within their local eco systems of sensors and alarms at your house. Interest is required if you want to be notified away from your home. But so does every device these days. The cool thing is your sensors can be 1200 ft away from your internet connection and hub and still notify you around the world. I was on a plane the other day and got an immediate notice that a utility worker was on our driveway.

Correct, you need a hub to use any of the yolink sensors. But that does not mean you need an internet connection. Those are two very different things. The hub merely receives the wireless signal from each sensor, and either broadcast it out to the Internet, or broadcast it onto the local net work that your phones may be connected to, or it will broadcast it to a YoLink, alarm siren, lights, switches, whatever you want.

They have been running and testing for 5 months now. They have done well in very cold temps down to (-10f) and several ft of snow. They are all operating still and report very few false alarms. I also did a lot of testing at home in different locations before deploying them to this remote location in the mountains. I’ve very impressed still. Cheers!
