Jessica you have single handedly inspired me to learn photography. I admire how you have evolved in such a small period of time. You are a lovely person I think,because you share your craft so freely for other people's benefit. Thanks for inspiring so many of us.

Jessica, just started watching your videos today. It's encouraging to watch someone who had the drive to be self taught and go for what they want. I took photography back in high school and have just recently been itching to get back into it. Watching your videos is stoking that fire again. So Thank you. Currently I have a canon rebel xsi (I know it's an older model).

The depressed look is in and really popular. This should say something about our culture and how the people feel. People like what they can relate to (just saying).
@ajs60368 жыл бұрын
+Michael Hartman No. For portraiture it just looks better. If the model smiled like in a group photo it doesn't give the picture any redeeming art qualities. The "depressed" look, as jessica calls it, gives the viewer a sense of wonder and mystery. Smiling is just smiling, plain and defeats the purpose of portraiture.
@jayj12687 жыл бұрын
True lol. The whole moody look is in right now. Smiles are typically edited bright and vividly saturated. Photography is a mean for interpretation. For Alec, a smile can say a story though. Why are they smiling, what got them smiling, etc.
@kiricamel3 жыл бұрын
@S Tra OP is not wrong though... even if numberwise it hasn't changed (which i have not researched but you might have?- regarding your comment)..it still SEEMS like more people are depressed (or saying they are depressed) because more people are talking about it since it's not a taboo topic anymore. It seems to be in focus a lot and also it seems like it has triggered a trend where young people might feel more likable and trendy if they are not happy and smiling in their pictures. (It's not that we're not allowed to smile like in the beginnings of photography) it's just not 'cool' anymore to smile. That alone for me points to society getting more sad/ hopeless over the last century. Sadness can only be a trend if people are sad.

Jéssica at around 2:30 you show the effect of the sun behind her. I have a question in regards to the exposure. If you block the light with models head you focus the image and you are using any kind of metering, say spot metering, you will set you camera settings in this case you shutter speed to properly expose her face or slightly underexposed her. So you are metering her face and you have adjusted the s.s. Now you recompose a bit that it you let some sunlight to leak through her and the lens, your exposure will change. The question is: 1. Do you keep metering her face with whatever focus point your are using? To get correct exposure whilst the sunlight in coming through the lens? 2. Or do you totally recompose in a way you keep the same focal plane but now the focusing point is not on the models face and you adjust s.s accordingly you go about and change several times to get a correct exposure although I wonder if this is correct? TiA

This was just great Jessica! Out of curiosity what would be the result if in backlit..we also use golden reflector from front does it makes any difference ?
@adrianlewis79775 жыл бұрын
Never use a gold reflector in such conditions. The light is already very warm so your model will wind up looking literally cooked! Use a white reflector and overhead and to the side. Never below as that makes for unnatural shadows.

Can you do one for the Nikon 3200 how to use the shutter speed tbe iso amateur and anything else that would be useful.
