This fastpacking backpack ticks all the right boxes and weighs just over 20oz. If you're looking for a lightweight backpack to take you from rim to rim in the Grand Canyon or a weekend adventure in the mountains, you'd be hard pressed to find a better value than the Outdoor Vitals Skyline Fastpack. This isn't sponsored, nobody paid me, that's just my opinion.
This fastpack has minimal features which helps keep the weight down and the comfort high. It has the perfect amount of pockets up front so you can access your hydration, nutrition, phone, or map/compass without having to take your pack off. The materials used feel very high quality and should wear well with time. Given that this is an ultralight item, however, I wouldn't take it bushwhacking through heavy brush on a regular basis.
For me, packing a lightweight tent, quilt, sleeping pad, and small cook kit leaves ample room for everything else I need. One struggle I have is fitting in several liters of water but depending on where you live and adventure yo might not need to. I look at this as being the perfect ultralight kit for a weekend on the Colorado Trail or similar terrain where water is easily accessible.
There is an included waist belt which will help secure heavier loads. I like that it doesn't actually attach at the hip and hinder a faster gait. I've found the pack to be quite stable while hiking and running.
I've used many fastpacks from Ultimate Direction but this one from Outdoor Vitals is far more comfortable.
