So glad you are back! This lesson was SO informative and easy to understand. I've paid for quite a number of on-line Lightroom courses and I've never been shown the tips about how the get the Black and White exactly right on an image - or how to select different colour Profiles (in particular one specific to your own camera). Great teaching style - can't wait for your next lesson. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Littl'un, You know you have, now you are back, an awesome responsibility, and that is you are my 'go to' teacher for all things photographic. Now you are back DON'T leave me. For me, you pitch the knowledge required to perform a task in your presentations perfectly. I can refer to your videos whilst practising on my own photos. Cannot wait for the layer video, cos that's something I have not got my head around. Great work. PS; hows little littl'un?x PPS; Linda and me toured New England in the fall in 2017. Question; is the Vietnam monument on the highway dedicated purely for those from Vermont that were lost in war ? If so, you lost many. A VERY moving visit for us both.

Glad I can be your teacher, Robert! :) Little Maya is doing great -- almost a year old now! Just about walking. I think she may run before she walks - she's quite determined ;). I'm glad to hear you've been able to visit our beautiful state! My understanding is that the Vietnam War Memorial is in memory of the Vermonters lost - 138 in total.
@robertstancer44695 жыл бұрын
Thanks for coming back littl'un.. Re; the Vietnam memorial, I cried my eyes out during our visit - so evocative.. The family stories are so intimate, they could be my family's loss. We have the 'famous' American cemetery here in Cambridge. A year.....a year, since little littl'un first set foot on gods earth, what have you 2 been do'in? Once Maya starts moving around under her own steam just watch how you move the ornaments/pot plants higher and higher... Pay attention you 2, get with the programme....baby first, photography a way back second. Looking forward to your 'how to layer' video now I have 2 days off, so will comment soon. Much love to you all from Rob & Linda, Cambridge, UK

I've just started watching your videos and I like the way you did this one. Often, videos that show you how to use some aspect of a software program show only the presenter's screen. I liked that I could still see you as well as hear you. It gave the video a more friendly feel. I also appreciate the way your mouse was displayed, making it super easy to find. Good job on the technical aspects of creating the video. Oh yeah, I also got a lot out of the tutorial on fall colors itself, haha. I lived in New England growing up and miss the fall colors now that I live on the west coast. It takes a little more effort to find colors out here. On a different note, your videos were the first ones I have run across in my admittedly superficial survey of photography videos on KZbin that didn't feature some white guy with a British/Australian accent. That was getting really old. Thank you for being a breath of fresh air.

I have an awesome tip for you when using the Graduated Filter to adjust skies. So, choose the filter and adjust it how you want it. Then, at the bottom of the adjustment panel you'll see "Range Mask : OFF". Click on "OFF" and choose "color." Then, just to the left, click on the color picker/eye dropper and then click inside the filter in the sky. You may want to also hit the letter "o" to show the mask. Hold down shift to add more parts of the sky if they weren't selected, until you're satisfied. Now hit "o" to hide the mask and make your adjustment, which will now be restricted to just the sky. You can use the available slider to fine tune the selection, kind of like feathering. This method basically allows you to make a perfect selection around the trees. I use the slider to "eat in" to the trees just a tiny bit sometimes to make it look perfectly natural.

Have to give it a try. Have done the color picker tool with the brush tool like that. Also for anyone using LR Classic (I use LR6) believe you can customize the tool panel eg. , bring the lens correction tool up to the top if always using it first. Let me know if I'm wrong. Thought I seen on the tube somewhere about 1 of their updates.

As well as applying Remove Chromatic Aberration and Enable Profile Correction have you thought of applying a Capture Sharpener. Having read Martin Evenings books on Photoshop and Lightroom and Jeff Schewe books The Digital Negative, first and second editions, they both highly recommend you apply a Capture Sharpener to begin with. Jeff Schewe recommends choosing the Radius first in accordance to the subject, so 0.8 for Landscapes and 1.2 for Portraits. I’ve created some presets for my self in the Raw dialogue in Photoshop from their books, as I don’t use Lightroom, but there should be some Presets already in Lightroom which were developed by Jeff Schewe and Pixel Genius. This is separate of course to Output Sharpening.

Brenda, I noticed that you would close one tab (i.e. Basic, HSL) and open another in LR. You can have it do it automatically by right clicking anywhere on the Develop module and selecting "Solo Mode". Now when you are in Basic and go to Detail, Basic will automatically close. LR will just have one open at a time. I have just discovered your videos and are thoroughly enjoying them. Thanks.

Hi Frank, I work on an iMac, so don't use an external monitor. I don't have any personal experience to go on but have heard that the LG 27MU88 is good. Still $$, though. In terms of accuracy for printing, then it is best to calibrate your monitor first before editing.
