You know a lot of hunters take this for granted. Most people has been doing it for several decades & they don't realize or really remember the first time they saw or had to field dress an animal by themselves. It's good to have videos like yours & others to help them along with a step-by-step process & get new hunters better with quality information for their future trips. Always keep up the good work 👍🏻

@@themoddingmuffin148 CONGRATULATIONS on your first hunt 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 if you're going alone just be very careful easy small cuts with your knife. It's always good to watch and you can even film the process to practice later on store-bought meat until you're comfortable. If this is your first kill remember to get blooded it's good luck & all the best in your future hunts 🥃 Sláinte

Also if you take your knife and put it up against the sternum, sharp end away from you, you can push through the sternum bone and that will expose the heart and lungs making removal easier. I prefer a smaller knife than what was used here. But proud of this girl💪👍

Me, a drunk vegan, watching this in case the apocalypse/nuclear fall-out occurs and I need to provide for my friends/family. Also, props to hunters❤️ I grew up in a family that hunts (and still hunts) It's not for me personally, but I still think that hunters are the best conservationist and environmentalist. If you're gonna eat meat, this is the way to do it! That deer lived a natural life, much better than any factory-farmed animal, and much better than being killed by another animal.

Great video as always Allie and congrats on the nice doe. A lot of hunters don't know the proper way to field dress a deer which can really effect the taste of the meat. I pretty much do it the same as you but I wear two pair of latex gloves so when I'm done around the butt I remove the outer pair and continue on, I also have a small pice of cotton twine with me to tie off the out end of the butt so when I pull it back thru the body nothing fals out into the cavity.

Awesome job! Don't be afraid to put your knife blade into the rectum area to free it up. Also I always recommend a shorter blade! When putting that knife blade into the cavity to cut, you've got the full blade exposed. I like to put my finger along the back of the blade to the point and then use the back of my hand to guide the blade to where you want to cut. Having a shorter blade, 3" to 3.5" is ideal for most. I'm glad you didn't advocate to split the pelvis as this only exposes the meat to more contaminants and allows it to dry out! Great job and kudos to getting new hunters involved!

You ARE DOING A GREAT JOB.I start with a small hole put two fingers in the hole turned palm up Keeping the knife above the guts. flip your knife upside down (sharp side up.) between your fingers push up to the brisket bone. you won't hit the guts like this because your fingers are below the knife. I also like a long slim blade to work around the but and other stuff. Not a big hunting knife made for buffalo. I always remove the utter great job. This is one of the beast videos I have ever seen on this. great stuff. A+++++ job thank you. you are great. LOL looking at other commits a lot of great people love this education you just taught thank you Kido.

My wife got me a multi-tool the Chistmas before last that features a small hatchet. The hatchet blade is about 2 1/2" wide. I used that on a doe and a antlerless buck this past November in the dressing process to pop the pelvis bone to get the "poop chute" out. Worked so much better that a small saw that I have with another dressing set! Much cleaner. The hard part, for me, is getting up in the chest cavity and cutting the gullet and windpipe. I'm a shorty, with short arms.

Good clear video. This is the way I do it as well, so used it to teach my son in advance of our hunt. Only difference is that I use the Butt Out tool, which is a big help. As you showed, you just have to be patient. Someone who has done this many times can probably whip though it in 5 minutes, but folks fairly new to it just need to take the time and be careful and make your way through all the connective tissue.

When I was helping my brother in law Skin and Butcher his deer last year he said the knife I gave him was too sharp because he was getting hair all over the meat. Too me theres 2 things wrong with that statement. 1. It was because he was going too fast and was cutting through the hide and wasnt taking his time. 2. He was doing it on the ground and it wasn't hanging up and he wasn't being careful. He even said it's better too use a dull knife. Haha I know from experience that's a false statement because when your knife is dull and you're skinning a deer it takes more effort and you get more hair on the meat.
