what is the advantage of this over just using your second line as a mrs to work that side of the tree? mrs is retrievable as well. genuinely curious as i want to employ this when i can and should, to do that i need to know why i would.

I use one 60m line when i climb srt when doing reductions or dismantles and non retrievable redirects. I think you said you use 2 30m lines for this set up? How do you go about retrieving the first line after the climb? I either base tie or pinto and alpine butterfly for a canopy tie and pull on the non working end to get it back down. I ask as i like the idea of using shorter lines for srt rather than man handle loads of extra rope around the tree. Do you do it like that for most working climbs? And get the 2nd line sent up when you want to redirect? Cheers

I do carry one dedicated for access 60M /10.5mm line and this is used as a griund lowerable system. For work my lines are always around tree height, which in my area is 30M. Like in the video but slightly modified these days I will piggyback a 9mm traverse line onto and around the system, using a variety if configurations. Because my work sites are mountainous it feels good to go in light. Splitting two lines and joining them when needes seems to be a convenient way to go about things.

ha! i love co-evolution! i've been doin this for awhile with two RR's in a slightly diff configuration. i mainly use it to drift to out of reach redirects. your knot through the ring set up made me think, why not put it through a retrievable secret weapon!?

Sure, why not! What is a 'reach re-direct'?

I assume you could do this with the tail end of your climbing line providing it was long enough? Just go avoid bringing two ropes into the canopy.
