i get that kie's parents are worried about her, but i'm having trouble empathizing with them when they don't ever actually LISTEN to their daughter. for one thing, it's kinda messed up of kie's mom that she continously pushes kie towards being a kook when kie had mentioned in a convo with pope last season that she'd struggled so much during her kook year that she was borderline suicidal. plus, the way her parents continuously dismiss her friends and her grief when kie thought john b and sarah were literally dead. that's fucked up, IMO. i understand that they're concerned for her safety, but the way they talk about the pogues is like they're some random troublemakers she'd latched onto a couple months ago as an act of rebellion, but they're her childhood best friends and are pretty much family to her. like, at LEAST try to compromise with your daughter instead of throwing her clothes outside and kicking her out of the house, jeeeez.

That's the thing. They always get into trouble. It'll be unreasonable to not be worried about Kie. And I don't see them being snobs about pogues. It's just her friends they're worried about. While Kie is a good friend, she was horrible to her parents. So they're all in the wrong really.

And I suppose my perspective is also taking in consideration of another scene that goes down later on in this season, so I have the context of that in mind right now. I think it's a complex situation from both sides, but I'm just taking issue with how her parents are handling it -- not that they don't have a reason not to be concerned. And I really don't think it's just the fact that her friends are always getting into trouble. Her mother has continuously been pushing Kiara to adapt to more of a 'Kook' lifestyle, so there's been an inherent biased opinion against the boys from the jump.

Pope's scholarship interview was the biggest moment in his life and Kie didn't understand that. She gets those opportunities he's fighting for. Just like her mom said. There are kids who can't have what she has, she does but is throwing it away. If she's a pogue, she would understand that because one of her friends are those kids her mother is referencing to. He knows how important that interview was and he's a teenager. So no, her being a teenager doesn't excuse her attitude and I hate that she keeps saying 'you slept with a pogue' when that's literally her father she's disrespecting too.

Nah Kie was never suicidal during her kook year. I remember the exact line you’re referencing and that’s just a figure of speech, not a confession I feel like Kie takes too much for granted. She wants to live the pogue life and she is a pogue at heart, but she has so much privilege and doesn’t acknowledge it at all, which is what her parents want to make her understand Unlike JJ and JB she has the privilege to have people who care for her and are worried for her safety, unlike the three others she doesn’t have to work to live, unlike the others she doesn’t have to worry about money…. Her parents are right IMO, but I agree that they should listen to her more anyway
