Important and sensitive topic for Nordic divers. Been my problem from the beginning but got used to it over time. Now I have some hopes to try this new solution ;) Thanks Steve 👌🏼

Thanks for the tip Steve. With water temps around 10C right now my was pretty well frozen with 5mm wet gloves after 78 minutes. I’m definitely ready to get dry gloves, and heated gloves sounds amazing.

Showa 727 are also great and available in a size which you can use with the Santi heated undergloves. The only thing: they are just a little to thin to fit waterproof on the rings, so just double the part which is being locked by the O-ring and your fine.

Great tips gents, have a batch of Marigolds that I got cheap, lol they are good but as you say are restrictive when one wants to put layers on your hands or wrists, will look out for the new gloves, I dive all year round, well as much as I can and so this addition to my kit will be priceless

I ended up with very similar gloves after contacting and asking 4divers if they had any thinner drygloves that'd work with the santi heated ones, it's so nice to actually have more dexterity compared to the bulky ones I used to use.

Showa 720's are where it's at. I was able to pick up a set of XL and L from my local Grainger (I'm in the USA) for about $8 a pair. Great video as usual Steve!
@bryanboldt88711 ай бұрын
However the 720's fit much tighter than other typical PVC or Polyurethane (495) gloves used for dry diving. With a 720 size L, I was unable to use even the thinnest of liners, whereas a 495 L allowed medium thick liners. Definitely size up with the 720. One note about switching back and forth between the different types of outer gloves... your O-rings will get compressed more when using thicker gloves. If you then move to thinner nitrile gloves, you may need to install a new O-ring in order to keep out water.

Hoping I can find a Showa 720 style glove in size 3XL. I was just at Grainger testing glove sizes to fit over the my new Fourth Element HALO A°R gloves. I dive a Santi drysuit so I can do the pull over method or the Santi SmartGloves kit. I did find a pair of 3XL gloves from Grainger but they are bulky and cotton lined and a pain in the ass to install to the Sant SmartGloves kit and due to the Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter

I'm using Santi Merino gloves and Santi Grey gloves (L) on Kubi Rings as my standard dryglove system. When I'm in hazardous waters with glass/metal/hooks, then I switch out to my Showa CS720. I found those Showa 727 that you mentioned but Amazon sent me size Small (-07) so I have to reorder them. It says they're 15 mil. 15 mil seems a bit thin but standard nitrile gloves are about 5 mil. I'm testing a pair of Lanon V330BK, lined, heavy duty, nitrile, chemical resistant gloves. They seem to be a nice compromise between the flexibility of Santi and the ruggedness of the Showa. As soon as I get over my bronchitis, I'll test them out.

Steve, please provide Showa glove model details that you used with the Santi heated glove system and a link to an on-line distributor. Thanks

Hi, I just checked my gloves as I arrived back in UK and the green ones shown in video are a Showa 727-11. The 11 I believe is the size and they fit over a Santi heated glove size Large. This is the manufacturers website link www.showagroup.com/eu-en/shop/727. Regards, Steve

The heavy duty Santi ones are resistant but a nightmare for dexterity as you say. I don't own heated ones but my thick under gloves did fit in Marigold XL. I have medium glove size normally so I guess my hands are small enough. They don't have a long life time though. Need to look into which Showa might better. The blue ones aren't great on dexterity either.

I dive some very thin, Ansell rated gloves, extremely similar to those marigold gloves you showed, all winter long, in water temps from 14C down to 4C, and have never had a problem with them. From 10C and below, I wear fleece liner gloves, and my hands have been warm for a solid hour-long dive without issue. I'm not suggesting that people who "feel" cold easier wouldn't benefit from heated liner gloves, because as a Santi dealer here in Japan, I do recommend them frequently, but I'm just saying I personally have never had a need for them, and I am a person who hates being cold. Finally, "SHOWA" gloves are made here in Japan, and readily found at any home store/hardware store. They're a dirt-cheap glove made in both PVC and rubber versions, that you can buy with either a liner or no liner, and usually come in a deep blue color, but sometimes a thiner unlined version can be found on the shelves in black.

I use Showa CS720 XXL Nitril Dk/Blue gloves with my Virgo ring system but they are still too tight with my santi size M heated gloves but great for most others. What is the code and name on yours? Its such a problem finding a glove that can be used when filming, so very excited to get hold of a pair. Your videos are always so very useful and extensive, big fan and thanks. I dive all year in Denmark so it gets pretty chilly 5C - 0C winter sea temp.

Is there a specific way how you put the Marigold gloves on the Santi dry glove system? I'd like to do the same.

Just add them the same way you do the santi glove they show you and sell.

Im Diving a 620 (orange) Showa with Enluva Undergloves 1 Size larger than I usually wear. Good thing is also the good visability of your handsigns. And its only 5€. You get them in workclothes shops or online. But its not fór the santi ringsystem since its lined on the inside.

What about feets? I see that you use rock boots, do you feel cold compared to integrated boots in cold water?
@sidemountscubadiving5 ай бұрын
If you get cold feet the actual thermal undergarment sock you use will make a big difference, I like merino wool thick hiking socks for very cold water diving.
