Wow going in Time Tara, John and little Crusoe you keep showing in my page with your past travels today in the Hebrides. Was lovely to see your niece Summer. Too bad you could not stay longer. Did you know FYI the Callanish Stones on the west coast of the island of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland were used by the Starz TV series, Outlander (2014), as a model for a fictional stone circle near Culloden called Craigh na Dun. The stones are depicted in the show as having time-travel abilities when touched. Funny time-travel all fantasy we know but folklore vividly speaking through what these islands have shown in time. Great to see you all again. Many blessings as you continue your projects in Portugal. Next time with Sawyer revisiting Scotland Lord willing. Many blessings 🙏💖🥰👶👱🏴🇵🇹

Thank you so much for doing this video. My granny (Mhairi McDougall) was born into a family in Knockintorran who had lived in the same croft for six generations. At 16, she emigrated to Canada, married a gold prospector, then returned to live in Dundee for the rest of her life. We have only visited North Uist once (in 1989) on foot so got no further than Lochmaddy - camping on the ferry terminal in the pouring rain. Hello, Lovely videos but please get an aluminum rear worn baby carrier. Tripping forwards you could crush Cruso or your next one! Several times on the videos you’re walking along with Cruso on the front and your hands in your pockets. It’s up to you but a friend crushed their baby doing exactly that. They survived fortunately. Some of the paths you’re on, you could easily trip. Apart from that keep up the good work.
@TheNewbys3 жыл бұрын
Hey David! Thanks so much for the concern and taking the time to write, we have had the same thought and have a new carrier for Crusoe which can take him on our backs now that his neck strength is a bit better. We are of course always thinking about him and his safety first, and would never want to put him at risk or in harms way and so appreciate any and all advice. Have a super week and thanks again for watching!

@@TheNewbys it wasn’t a criticism but you can get rear ones for very small people that protect their necks made of aluminum like a roll cage and they can grow into them. I have my own two kids now 12 and 15 yrs old but we were very active when they were little. Regards

Lovely trip as always. I always notice that Crusoe often has beautiful hand knitted jumpers, who’s the clever knitter?
@TheNewbys3 жыл бұрын
Hi Loris, Crusoe has some very kind great aunties that like to knit. Most live in Scotland are close friends with John’s mum. Thanks to them! These jumpers and blankets will almost certainly be hand me downs for years to come. Good spot Loris and thanks for watching. 👍🙏😃

Those beaches look fantastic. I am curious - are the islands plagued with the dreaded Scottish midge, or does the surrounding sea keep them at bay?
@TheNewbys2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob! They do have them yes, but thankfully we were a bit early in the year 😊

Love this video! I'm planning a campervan trip to Skye, Uist and Harris/Lewis. Did the ferries require you to have a campsite booking? My campervan is 100% solar/offgrid, so hoping to be a bit less planned.
@TheNewbys3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, good to hear from you. Thanks for your message. We were not required to have campsite bookings to board a ferry. In Harris there are designated wild camping spots. Sounds like you have a great trip planned. Uist some people might not like if you wild camp so pick your locations carefully, and worth being mindful of Crofters land which looks unused but is private land. 👍🏴🙏

@@TheNewbys Canada is a must, especially for you guys. My wife, teenage son and I toured the Rockies and had the most amazing time. Mountains, ice cold lakes, waterfalls and forests beyond anything we had seen before. And then there is the wildlife - won't ever forget watching my wife and son's faces as a black bear wandered out across a road in front of us.

Tolles Video!! Wieviel Tage habt Ihr in Uist und Lewis & Harris investiert? Mir ist klar, dass man hier auch 2 Wochen verbringen kann. Aber wieviel Zeit, wenn man nur für die wichtigsten Stops Zeit hat?
@TheNewbys2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christine, we think you could do Lewis and Harris in three or four days if you were in a hurry and Uist in one or two. Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. 🐘🚐👍🙏
