For those of you who dont understand. Andre is a musical genius who created a facade about the breakdown of a relationship, disguising it in a happy upfront beat. The point he makes is, that the audience do not listen to the true intent and lyrics behind his song because everyone is fixated on the rhythm and beat of the music. He even says "Y'all don't want to hear me, you just want to dance" to prove his point. He is an artist ahead of his time.

This video is really a high water mark for both video and music. I've been to whole cities that didn't have this much life in them. Twenty years ago I had a one hour per week radio show in mountainous, small town, northern Thailand. It was called English by Songs. Most of my song list was chosen for a certain combination of musical quality, clarity of the English, and a story that was easy to follow. I played Ray Charles' Unchain my Heart; I played Lulu's To Sir With Love. One week I told my listeners that I had a special treat for them. I just said, this is what great American music sounds like...I told them not to worry if they couldn't follow the story, just see what it feels like. And I played this. I had that show for about a year, and it was funny. At first, people didn't admit that they listened. After about six months, people started to admit that "at first, I didn't like the music that you played. But now, I like it." This is Asia, don't forget. Most of the locals had to be taught how to swing.

at this point they didn't break up, they both had a different art style and each one got their own side to the album. One side was Andre 3000 and the other half was Big Boi. Plus Andre 3000 went and did a little acting as Big Boi put it. They were into different things musically and still made it work for this album. I think they did eventually break up years later after Idlewild (2006 ish).

I'm french and grew up in france. When this song came out, I was rather young, but my older sister would play it often. @@axelmalm2642 2:47 he says that line just before the 2nd chorus but the music plays over it so that it masks it, further emphasizing the very message that it hides. The groove and tone of the music as well as the video gives the song a deceptively positive vibe. But the lyrics are a commentary on the state of modern relationships as well as the function that music plays in masking the reality of pain. This song is a true work of art and it pulled one over almost everyone.
