The "if anyone ever cheats on you" thing was maybe a little dramatic in these circumstances. They were just separated for years, and not in a time of video calls or cellphones, he was a soldier and she was a nurse in the incredibly gruesome and traumatic circumstances of world war 2, I don't think that either of them taking comfort in another person during that time would be top of the list of concerns, their priorities would have shifted somewhat.

Why are you so uncomfortable watching this!? You laugh at the strangest times. As a “history buff” I would think you’d appreciate this series more than you seem to. A.) burn the witches? B.) they’re not “pirates”. C.) people back them weren’t “idiots” for not knowing the word disinfect. Even physicians didn’t know to disinfect things during this time.
