Outlander Season 6 Behind The Scenes

Outlanders is on its sixth season and still going strong. We’re only at the sixth book in Diana Gabaldon’s series, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes” so here’s hoping all goes well and we have a few more seasons ahead of us! For now, while we wait impatiently from week to week we can enjoy some behind-the-scenes facts about the show, starting with the new season! The inspiration for the books came from the oddest of places. We bet you could never guess in a million years! You can thank fashion model-turned-actor, Caitriona Balfe and her costar, Sam Heughan, as well as the introduction of an intimacy coordinator to the crew for Season six’s continued (perhaps reinvigorated) storytelling. Caitriona struggled a bit this season, due to being six months pregnant while the whole cast was struggling with Covid and the awful weather conditions. We’ve got the details on that nasty maggot scene from season five, and we honestly feel bad for Sam for that one. Did you know over a hundred actors had to be flown to Scotland? And that the casting was surprisingly difficult for their lead actress, but not their lead actor! This show has some of the best costumes out there and that includes the hundreds of wigs used in the show. And that prosthetic that Sam has to wear on his back all the time, did you notice it’s been changing from season to season? And our favourite stars both lied their way into the role.
