I know it's a bit of a late reply but it's never late to point out this song IS in fact a world-wide hit. Outlandish's version is a (wonderfully made) cover from the 1978's original song written and released in Spanish by Argentine rock singer "León Gieco" and later translated into many languages and sung by many different well known singers.
